What is considered evil in Molyneux's world is farting in front of royalty. Don't listen to this man.

Yeah but most people play good just for story reasons, it's not saying which one people prefer to play for fun.
so what you're saying is that you play good because it's for the story and you don't have fun at all playing as a good character?

why not play evil AND have fun and for the story?

I dunno: I can never be the evil guy unless it helps encourage my munchkin habits. See Fallout 3: where I was the savior of the land who stole everything that wasn't nailed down.

I was still ranked as "good" but my actions were plenty "evil."

Who here hasn't tortured someone?
I havent.
Then again I cant be evil, I just cant bring myself to hurt someone who hasnt hurt me.

It is because for Americans evil is the norm, we play games to do something we don't normally do in real life, like help people.

I don't know if it's just me, but I like being good; weither in real life or a video game. I always like being the "good guy" and when given the choice, I will play to be good.

I don't really have as much fun being evil than good. Maybe it's just me then...

*looks at nobility badge* Hum, he may be on to something there. Then again, one of my favorite past times in inFamous was bioleeching unsuspecting civilians, and they found something wrong with that.

This outlines one of my other good/evil pastimes.

Somewhat ironic considering the image of America of the world in general.

I have to wonder where these numbers came from, a poll? Those are never accurate, stupid people choose what they think they should put.
Well you say that, but they torture terrorists to get information. Then Obama goes out shouting 'THE UNITED STATES DOES NOT TORTURE'. They got this puritanical obsession with being good and righteous and stuff.

They're evil, but like to LOOK like good guys. Totally fits imo. ;P

Or we don't have some deep down compulsion to do the right thing all the time no matter the cost no matter if it actually matters or not.

You say evil, I say 'morally flexible'.

According to Molyneux, the tendency toward good is so strong that many gamers will choose it even at a hefty cost - though they don't have to like it.
Did anyone here played Fable 2?

Did anyone here realize that the evil-choice was completely dumb-tarded?

Fable 2 did a horrible job in general with the evil-choice. There was -absolutely no point-. You made less money. You didn't get anything 'special' out of it. People, most of the time, just ended up hating you. You didn't get any powers. You looked uglier.

Maybe it's more about Fable 2 having no-perks-at-all with being evil, than with Americans not choosing the evil option. Like in real life, the evil-choice usually gives you an edge..not a moralistic rant (akin to Fable 2).

I usually only go good my first time to see all the content. You miss out on alot by going evil in most games, because most people who otherwise have something neat with them, be it a sidequest or something else, end up dead when I go evil.

Yeah. I see his point. I'm so busy eating babies and killing kittens in real life, that I find myself playing video games as an escape from my monstrosity.

I always play through both at least once, to see what it's like. Maybe it's not an accurate reflection of real-life morality, but it certainly boosts replay value (if it's done well).

I've actually noticed this phenomenon. When I played the original Fable, I felt guilty over being a total dick to everyone. My older brother tried it, and he felt the exact same way! It's actually rather interesting to think about. However when I played Fable 2, my heart had already glazed over with pure malevolence, so I didn't feel as bad.
