Quite a few parts in F.E.A.R 1 and 2 there's just something extremely creepy about blood filled hallways and crawling through ventilation shafts and catching glimpses of something that shouldn't be. I've let out more than one terrified yelp as Alma appears in front of you and just keeps getting closer and closer and you can't do anything about it. I've spent many a night in the dark with my headphones cranked up crapping my pants as alma throws me through windows.

Project Zero 1.

A blind woman. Blood-soaked banadages around her eyes. A mask with spikes through the eyes. The ritual of blinding.
Her screams.

Oh her horrible screams.
mine was a toss between her ("my eyes... my eyes...") or one section when i was in the garden and without any prompt, broken neck just slid right in front of me, making those choking noises... fuck that scared me (part of it was my fault; i decided to play at night, and with the lights off: clearly i was a smart kid ha ha).

That or the final hour of majora's mask; just because of the music and that the characters i saw showed how terrified they were, and i just think "why do i have to witness this?"

YES.

I think what made it worse is that I first played Ocarina of Time when I was 18 so I felt really stupid for getting freaked out over something that looked so "cartoony". It didn't make me feel better about going into the graveyard though =\

Doesn't still haunt me, but it did for awhile: The two nightmare sequences in the original Max Payne. The shriek of your wife, the cry of your baby all around you. Even more unsettling was the second nightmare when Max gives this horrific scream if you fall off the lines of blood.

Granted, that was one of the most annoying fucking parts of the game, but the first time I fell off and he screamed, I nearly crapped myself. Keep in mind I had the volume up pretty high and was playing late at night.
I could only play those particular levels once or twice due to them being so creepy, and my oldest niece being born around the time I first played the game.

Okay sorry to sound all melodramatic and sobby but the moment that kinda scarred me was in homefront. That intial scene where youre riding in the bus and this 5yr old's parents are excecuted in front of him and he runs to them after they were shot. That scene still stuck in my head...

The entire game of Doom III.
I was young when I bought it. Had just gotten an intrest for FPS games and didn't really know what I was getting myself in to. My previous gaming experience was pretty much just kid friendly Playstation games, and I suppose a little bit of Counter-Strike.

When that first zombie-alien thing appeared... Almost shit my pants! Had the game since release and I still haven't gotten enough courage to get very far. An old friend of mine played it my house once and decided to go rampage and kill everything with the flashlight or w/e the melee weapon was... I envied him.

Fatal frame 3... was too much for me, I had to play it with my younger sister and take turns but couldn't reach the end. I know, I'm a chicken

I actually found the "real" sequence in wich Max's Wife and Child are murdered much more haunting.

The Nightmares, as unsettling as they were, are surreal. But the actual flashback/intro felt like something that can actually happen in real life. And that's terrifying.

Also, it features the ominous "Is this the Payne Residence?"
Yes, you're right, that was also quite haunting. I remember when that game came out, it was one of the most tragic and moving sequences I'd seen. It certainly still is, but nowadays I find it's a bit let down by Max's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" at the end. Just seemed too forced in my opinion.

Still, it's a great video game intro that masterfully uses gameplay to set the scene and not just a cutscene.

OT: The part in Amnesia: The Dark Descent where you have to avoid the water.
Can't bring myself to play from here.
I don't see why everyone is terrified of that part. There are a lot of things that freak the shit out of me, but that just irked me.

The Haunted Mansion in Timesplitters: Future Perfect still freaks me out.
Well, I'm quite surprised about that.
I simply found that whole situation with the invisible watermonster so stressful and scary.

Playing Pikmin 2, hearing their little cries of anguish makes me sad.
How about the Smoky Progg in the original Pikmin? (http://pikmin.wikia.com/wiki/Smoky_Progg)
I had the day planned out for building up my pikmin stock. I had around 85 pikmin planted in the ground, and was on my way out to look for more pellets when I found the egg...
It hatched, and I couldn't stop it...
It proceeded to my landing site, uprooted my pikmin and killed them all. :'(
Day wasted.

Yes, the ever creepy lavender town. Didn't get any less creepy in the remakes.
Was that the place with the graveyard? (I've only played SoulSilver, sorry.)
It is indeed. Maybe the effect is diminished slightly since the Pokemon Tower was replaced with a radio tower, and you don't actually need to go there in G/S/C/HG/SS.

I don't know, the fact that there was a Pokemon graveyard... it was both disturbing and slightly touching.

Mostly disturbing.
