Those were such a rip-off. You couldn't see, so you couldn't judge your speed either. For all you know, you could be moving slower.
Magic resistance, my good man.

Sure, if you were actually the character. When you're the player watching the speed at which the minimap moves when you're wearing them, you know they work.

Also, first time I played the game, they didn't seem to work properly with me. Not sure if it was the PC I was running or a resistance to blinding, but either way, I got the speed, but the blinding never fully worked, it was if I was looking through a pair of sunglasses.

You were probably a Nord. Magic resist allows you to resist the blinding effect, too. Get up to 100% magic resist through other gear and potions before you put the boots on, and you won't be blinded at all, even if you switch the other gear off (unless you unequip and reequip the boots).

Morrowind is just awesome. I really hope TES5 is more of a return to the way things were in Morrowind rather than Oblivion's very beautiful, very shallow experience.

Just so you know, you can beat the game in 10 minutes. No need to bother leveling or doing any side quests, because the geniuses that programmed this never put in any logic to make sure you did various quests or were of a certain level before killing the end boss.
Yup. It's called not being linear. Sure would be great if games these days tried it.
I am all for games that are not linear, but to have no checks and balances in them is too much. I mean, in a RPG to be level 1 or 2 and be able to beat the end boss of a game is a bit too ridiculious. When you spend 40 hours developing your character and you find out you put all that time in for no reason because I could have had the same result after 10 minutes. What's the point in doing any other quests or earning any other items after that?

You can find tons of user-made mods that make the people, clothing, and pretty much everything, look better. That's never been an issue for me, but I know graphics are a big part of immersion. However, Morrowind still gets my vote for best game ever.

How could you have had the same result? Woo, you killed Dagoth Ur. Grats. You've completed about... 0.01% of the game (literally). And you're level 1. And you're just about naked. Now what are you going to do, quit? If so, you never understood the game to begin with.

To explore and see what there is to do? If you're going to play Morrowind to try to defeat the end boss within the first 10 minutes and then never play it again afterwards, then you're playing it the wrong way.

Art design in Morrowind is far from the generic fantasy setting we got in Oblivion. I loved the overall look. Everythin was a bit insectoid or fungal.

Wolves? Pffft get me some cthulu faced nix-hounds.

Horses? Unbelievable! Where's my giant insect, steered by 'manipulating internal organs?'

Cliff Racers? ... Not cool Morrowind, not cool at all. The gnats of Morrowind, only noisier... And buggier, despite being pterodactyls.

And if you're complaining about Morrowind being non-linear it's like throwing yourself onto railway lines as a child and complaining because you won too quickly.

I played this when it first came out, admittedly I was 8, but could never get into it that much; too open I found. Oblivion feels a lot tighter in script to me.
Same for me. Not that im a bit older, I really enjoy it. My only problem is how you loose fatigue when running. You have to run, the world is too big to walk.

I've played it a little for the Xbox, but if I'm really going to get into it I need to buy the PC version. From what I saw, it looked like a decent game. My only real complaint was the combat--point sword at bandit, stab with sword five times, bandit dies. It was very dull in that respect. But I'll probably grab the PC version and give it a runthrough, seeing as the GOTY edition is only 20 bucks.

Were you an Orc? They have a natural 25% resistance to magic. That, combined with the boots of blinding speed negates the biggest problem in the game, the repetitive and long travel times, though it feels like an odd way of doing it.

Add me to the list of people who adore morrowind. i remember finding that women who lost her ring in a pond, i go in to find it and she tries to rob me along with her invisible friend. i took the amulet of shadows and proceeded to use it for all sorts of mischief. oblivion was just, quest, fast travel, quest, fast travel. if you did explore you find nothing. the very rare chance you come across something interesting you should have waited till level 20 to get it because now its dead weak. Oblivion did not make it fun for the experience player at all. fallout 3 was a bit in the middle, plenty of adventure but kept you on track quite well too.

I was definitely something. I have no idea what, however, it's been years since I first played Morrowind.

Actually I really do love RPG's. In all honesty, I am flaming on a game and I really shouldn't be. I had started to play Morrowind and I was near the end and lost everything when I had my PC crash. I decided to play through it again, doing everything over again. So overall I had over 100+ hours at least invested in this, I finished it and a friend showed me how you can get through the end questline in about 30 mins, then I saw the youtube video which did it in about 10. So "I" felt cheated in that I put a bunch of time in playing through the game a second time, doing the same stuff when I really didn't need to.

Overall the game has a ton of depth, and was probably one of the better RPG's that I have played. Sorry for being a whiny ***** about it.. =(

Yes but the beauty of the Bethesda games is that you can do them at your own pace and soak up the world.

Finishing the quest as fast as possible is something most players do not do while playing Beth RPGs.
