In the newest Rambo film, the guy on the chain gun. He gets his head punched off by Rambo. I would LOVE to die like that.

Starship Troopers..theres that bit when they are in the fort when they start to retreat and one guy jumps off the wall only to be impaled in midair by one of the Arachnids and then flung screaming into the mass of aliens. Totally epic that whole scene
Man, I'd forgotten Starship Troopers! The Reporters death was an excellent death.

"It's an ugly planet, it's a bug planet..." Grabbed by a bug and chopped in half. Excellent.

Not the best, but the first one to come to mind was in Flyboys, when after a heated showdown with the Black Falcon, James Franco just goes "What the fuck," and flies up next to the Falcon, draws a pistol, and shoots him through the eye. A thousand feet in the air. In bi-planes. That just screams cool.

In The Fly 2 when that guy has his head crushed to pieces at the bottom of the lift shaft.

Oh that reminds me. I was on holiday over there the Christmas just gone, it was way past 11pm and I wanted to show my girlfriend this amazing death (because I'm romantic) and it was censored beyond all recognition! Just a millisecond of the lift touching the side of his skull. I thought your TV over there was pretty generous with things like gore and TEE-TEES!

I really, really want to say Oldboy but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that no one actually dies.
After much thought, I'd either go with the scene from Ghost Ship, where everbody in the ballroom gets chopped in half by a think wire or it'd have to be in 28 Weeks Later when all the zombies play chicken with the helicopter. (Perhaps not a death as such, as they're already dead)

The acid in the face death was pretty awesome in that (very underrated) movie too...

Holy crap, how could I forget? The curb stomp from American History X, that makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Laser death in Resdient Evil. No way you can beat that.

Other good deaths are Will Smith's character dying in Seven Pounds
He freezes himself in an ice bath and adds a jellyfish to kill him, he does it to ensure his organs survive so he can donate them to various deserving people
Also, the deaths of Romeo and Juliet in the Baz Luhrman (modern) version. V for Vendetta and Sweeny Todd have good ones too.
You realize that stating his character dies in the movie is a SPOILER IN ITSELF! You just ruined it for me. Thank you. Thank you very much.

For emotional impact, I'm gonna say...

Tony Montana in Scarface, Vincent in Pulp Fiction, Tommy in Goodfellas, Jerome Morris in Gattaca, and maybe Darth Vader. In terms of pure "awesome," however... Just about anyone who dies in a Highlander episode, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure episode or Fist of the North Star ep.

I was always confused by this because doesn't a box jellyfish sting cause you to have a massive heart?

Every death in Hot Fuzz. Even the ones that aren't actually deaths (like the store guy at the very end... painful.).

Glad you liked it ;)

(evil chuckle)

P.S. One, it's pretty obvious anyway from the opening scene (where he calls an ambulance to his own suicide), and two, I've edited it now anyway.
P.P.S. Sorry to double post.

Oh wow, more and more are coming to mind now.

Leon in Leon (AKA The Professional) when after being shot in the back of the head by Stansfield, as he died, he handed a note to Stansfield reading: "This is from Matilda" with a grenade pin....... BOOM!

Also, last one promise, Pulp Fiction for the funniest death. When Vincent blows that guy's brains out in the back of the car.
