I know its fully retro and the effect is old school and it shows, but it still rocks socks.

Dante's Peak. The scene where the grandma jumped into the acid filled lake to safely push her grandchildren and james bond across to the other side in their acid resistant wooden boat 0.o then she was all chewed up by the time everyone else reached safety. Saw that in the theater with a few of my friends and we just couldn't stop laughing.
