I think the real kick comes from thease charachters...whom of your the target audience (I really really think it was aimed more at those whogrew up with toy story)
I found it was more when Chuckles was telling Lotso's story.

The scene where he arrives home to look through the window...you can hear his heart break and the spite gain hold.

The intro to UP (when they are growing up together) and the ending scene to that animated film Grave of the Fireflies.

Edward Norton in the dinner scene in American History X.

Both an emotional and difficult scene to watch.

Requiem for a Dream...all the final scenes of the mom. After it was over I called my mom and told her how much I loved her and appreciated her.

This should do it nicely:

(Alabama Accent required)
"He's Such a Smart Kid. I...I Love you Jenny"

and if that doesn't cut it:
"Forrest...I'm going to heaven, Forrest."
When Forrest frist freaks out wondering if the kid is gonna be slow like him...that scene gets me EVERY time I watch it. Hanks sells it so well.

I'm probably going to take some flak for this, but w/e:
The burning of Hometree in Avatar
You will take flak. I apologize for the cynicism in advance, mate, but you cried because we blew up a goddamn TREE that GIANT BLUE CATS worshiped??? That movie was so asinine it was hilarious. My friend and I predicted exactly how, when, and where the ubiquitious "love scene" would happen and how it would all end. A bunch of guys on horses and flying dinos destroyed an armada of tanks and armored planes/helos? And did ANYONE else notice that only the Jake whatshisforgettablename and the blue cat woman survived? That it was very much a pyrrhic victory cause TWO out of THOUSANDS were left? I guess Jake and Blue Woman can hang out in their destroyed treehouse alone forever! Yay!
I think your being gerous when you call it a love scene, love scenes are ment to be the most beautiful part of the movie

Avatar just gave us two furries dry humping in the woods

Also, the opening scene of UP...WTF Pixar! Thats not you! Why make such a sad openning scene?

It just got sadder as the scene went on...

Toy Story 3's last 20 minutes. I swear there wasn't a single dry eye in the theatre by the end of that film.
same, although my 3 year old brother blurting out "why are you all crying?" loudly didnt help lol

The Green Mile is the closest film to get me to tears, you know what scene I'm talking about.

Mow I might be cheating here since this is TV but the end of The Big C where emotionally dead Adam finds his mum's storage locker and all the gifts she's left him for when she dies got me as close to tears as The Green Mile.

Can't embed the video but watch it on the link, seriously it's great.

Ending of Toy Story 3, beginning of Up, ending of The Green Mile, ending of Benjamin Button... I could go on, but I'd just ruin any illusion of manliness that I may just be able to hold on to.

its almost enough to make you feel sorry for him (though hes still evil)

one thing I notice is that both him and stinky pete are very similar

both seem very nice and sort of seem wise and kind

while stinky pete is bitter about never having a family he is ruthless but he has understandable motivations, after all that wating choosing between living forever or onto a kid where the inevitible will happen (and by that point hes lost all desire for a kid) I think id be willing to chop up Woody too .we dont really get much of a chance to be sympathetic with him, though his "badness" is suposed to be more of a surprise

Lotso however I think is a little more evil and twisted than stinky pete, he had a child and everything how ever as you said the absolute heartbreaking way he was replaced probably made him snap and twisted enough to take over a day care centre and run it as some kind of sadistic prison,

hmmm dont know what the point was there but it was fun!
