Like the other guy who also quoted this, I'm not quite sure why you dislike Half-Life.... Because it has a story? /confused .... Just think of all the "dialogue" as a cut scene.Iron Mal said:I do like FPS's and you are quite narrow minded if your stance is 'this game or nothing'.Kstreitenfeld said:You thought Orange Box was a bad deal? I seriously don't even know what to say. It was an averaged priced game when it was released, contained one large single player game with 2 extra small chapters, one extremely well made (but short) puzzle game and an amazing online game.
Do you just not like FPS games at all? I still play TF2 regularly and often relive half-life 2 / portal from time to time (maybe once or twice a year).
The Orange Box wasn't that great, over half of it was Half Life 2 (which lost me around about the point it forced me to sit through unnessercary dialogue because the developers were afraid that I might want something besides shooting in a shooting game), Portal was alright but playing it more than once was seemingly pointless since the challange and comedy value is lost once you've seen it and know what's going to happen/what you have to do.
And finally, TF2 is painfully limited compared to other online shooters and suffers from some painful balance issues (you try and tell me with a straight face that an entire team of engineers is even remotely fair or reasonable).
And seriously TF2 may have lacked in content at first but with the class updates and the large amount of new maps that have been added (both official and fan created) it now has a lot of variety. Not to mention it is one of the most balanced multiplayer games out there, no matter what you happen to think.
Also, I never said "this game or nothing". I was just baffled that you thought Orange Box was a bad deal worthy of the title "Most expensive game that wasn't worth it", when it is seen as a great deal to many.
