I listen to a lot of music that's considered too weird for the general population, and also music that's too pop-ish for certain types. Sometimes I go on youtube and secretly (well not so much now) listen to the pop-rock I listened to when I was 13-14.

They're cute.
Punk Rawk lawlz. I was there. Yes, that banner says 96.5 Family FM and that guy is wearing an iPray shirt.

I also like Anti-Flag and my brother told me not to like fake punk bands. I don't care. I'd even wear their shirt just to piss off nationalistic tools. Also, everyone seems to hate Blondie. Sure, Debbie Harry comes across as kind of slutty and a lot of their songs are really annoying, but some of their songs aren't bad as far as pop-punk goes.

I love Andrew WK, and I've never met anyone else who can even tolerate him.
I'm not usually a fan of solo artists and I think his image seems corporate and fake, but some of his songs are so happy xD

And Lady Gaga <_<

I listen to metal. The people who I hang out with here and there are those who can't comprehend the music itself...so it's extremely hard hearing music you enjoy in certain environments. It's when they play John Lennon, Rage against the Machine, Phish, Radiohead, etc...that I can't take it...

No. Don't even go there. I'm obviously not some close-minded idiot who listens only to metal, I just can't stand the artists I listed above as examples of the varying differences.

Metallica.

They seem to catch a lot of hate because of St anger, or "selling Out".

There's a difference between wanting to make more money and selling out.

Green Day. Pretty much everything except for 21st Century Breakdown is at least pretty good for me. Even though I tend to like the older stuff, American Idiot is probably my favorite album.

As far as pop music goes, they are definitely my favorite.

Linkin Park and some Lady Gaga. Especially the latter; I hate the fact of how catchy they are.
Right on. With Lady Gaga, I have no idea what she's talking about, and I do despise how I can't turn on the radio without hearing someone beside her but I admit she is catchy.

As for Linkin Park, I was a huge fan in the 90's/early 2000's but cannot listen to more than three songs in a row by them now, because I then start contemplating suicide.

This is the first time I've admitted this, but I love the Bieber. I think most of it is because of the popular dislike for him and I like going against the flow. But yes, I do enjoy a good Bieber song. Please don't shun me.

Slipknot and Disturbed.

But that's most likely because we live in an age of techno and pop nd almost everyone at my school listens tot hat. It seems like my friends and I are the only oes who like them.
Eh? I was under the impression that the vast majority of the hatred for Slipknot, Disturbed, and the like came from within the metal community. Death Metal fans especially seem to despise Slipknot.

OT: Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold. I do think that they're somewhat overrated, and owe a good bit of their success to the fact that melodic metal styles tend to fly under the radar these days. The void needs filling, and therein lies the secret to their success. If Power Metal or the current revival of Traditional Heavy Metal were to by some strange and wonderful miracle, be brought into the public consciousness, both bands would decline somewhat in popularity, but they're still really good in their own right.

Fall Out Boy. I hate Pete Wentz but I'm cool with everyone else in the band.

Well I quite like some of Justin Bieber and Lady Ga Ga's songs.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in my community the entire Slipknot fanbase makes up of me and a few of my friends...

... Everyone else hates them, "because they wear masks"...

I can understand if you don't like them because you don't like metal, or because their lyrics can be a bit messed ("Disasterpiece" FTW), but seriously? Because they wear masks????

Nickelback and also i strongly believe AFIs new sound (but i guess theyve had it so long you cant call it new anymore) is so much better than their older punk roots that i probably wouldnt worship them (more specifically Davey) if they kept it

What bands do you like that most people seem to hate? Mine would be 30 Seconds To Mars. I agree that Jared Leto comes across as a pretentious dickhole most of the time but they make some quality stadium rock tunes. I also enjoy a little Phil Collins every now and then (the Tarzan soundtrack is genius).
I don't know anyone who hates 30SM.

Mine would have to be

Disturbed
As I Lay Dying (I've got like four of their songs)
Evanescence
Nickelback (I've got a couple songs)
Wait people hate As I Lay Dying? They're one of the most talented metal bands.

Plan B

He's a twenty something london bloke, who sings in a heavy chavy twang, but i think he's awesome.

He's got a incredibly huge amount of haters though.

Nickelback.

Embarrassing to say it (I'm heavy into rock), and my friends would probably give me some really, really funny looks for saying it, but I like quite a lot of their songs.

I also like Faith No More, which is another one that my friends would stare at me weirdly for liking.
FNM is a bit of an acquired taste. People know "Epic" and go in expecting a lot of funky rap-metal stuff. Then they hear "Woodpecker from Mars" and other nonsense and it scares them. Mike Patton is a vocal freak, by the way. All those zombie noises in the L4D games? Patton. With no vocal effects (for the most part).
Yeah, Patton has one hell of a voice on him. He did the voice of the Darkness in (derp) The Darkness, apparently also without any effects applied.

Yet another vote for Lady Gaga, here. Her songs are really catchy. Oh, and I really like Manson's cover of Personal Jesus. The man is an overly dramatic attention whore, but goddamn if he doesn't have a few really good songs. I'm always ashamed to admit it, though.

Most of my answers would be stuff like Nickleback, Linkin Park or Green Day, which are mainstream popular, but people who like to think of themselves as 'cool' and 'alternative' (read: wankers) say those bands are crap.
Or maybe they're just not that great? None of them are inherently bad, and they get far more attacks on them than they should, but they can still be pretty crap.

As for me, terrible 60's music. Oh, Chordettes... How catchy you are
