Have to agree with you there. This and "Appa's Lost Days" were very emotional episodes IMO.Nigh Invulnerable said:Iroh's story in "Tales of Bah Sing Se" from Last Airbender. Holy balls.
I was thinking this exact same thing. Joss Whedon is well known to switch from comedy to drama really quickly. Still, Buffy-wise, I'd have to say "The Body". Especially Anya's frustrated, in-tears speech about how she, as a 1140+ year old ex-demon, doesn't understand the(in her opinion) stupidity of human mortality. (I can't find a video of it)brunothepig said:Don't know if I'd call Buffy comedy though... It's funny, but (especially towards the later seasons) it's also quite serious.
Yeah. One of the reasons I love his work, it's almost seamless.Aetera said:I was thinking this exact same thing. Joss Whedon is well known to switch from comedy to drama really quickly. Oh, also, in season 6, the end of "Seeing Red" and the beginning of "Villains". Tara. TARA. Damn you, Joss.

Meh, I find Scrubs fairly corny, probably because it tries to yank your heart strings far too often. This scene goes to some extra lengths, but I stopped caring long ago. Probably because someone dies nearly every episode, and the death usually only gets 10 seconds of screentime during a montage. It just goes Death -> JD making some sappy truism -> doctors look around sad. Rince and repeat every episode. I find that it takes a lot of the drama when it gets treated in such an over-economical manner on a routine basis.Necromancer Jim said:Seconded.Impluse_101 said:This...this one..

That was one of the moments that I really liked of Scrubs, actually.

I laughed my ass off to that one. I found it really funny how serious they were trying to be when he'd already died 50+ times before and no one cared.darkapothem2000 said:"Kenny Dies" from South Park S5 (the one where... well, Kenny dies)
As for my own: Community S1 Introduction to Film (I think) Where Abed makes a film about his life. The final film was so out of left field and so sad and touching it really struck a chord with me.

YES. Its a FANTASTIC piece of Television history, maybe the most fantastic part. It is so extremely heartbreaking. My hat is off to Joss Whedon...what a freaking genius.freakydan said:Well, aside from Jurassic Bark, which is some of the most cripplingly depressing bit of television ever, I'd have to say The Body, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No movie, television show, or book has so accurately displayed that horrible feeling of loss following the death of a loved one. Even if you're not a Buffy fan, I encourage you to watch this episode. It's beautiful.
