On the contrary.

I got your message loud and clear. I was just joking to exhibit the usual type of response that such a statement was bound to bring.

'Twas merely joking. :D

I'm sorry but can there be some new overrated games like say.... GTA Chinatown War's? That was a bit of a letdown, fun to relax but wouldn't be fun without the cheats and when that'a the only reason it's fun then you've done something wrong, I mean whats next? Manhunt DS?

Half Life 2, seriously I still haven't played through the first game but it is already quite boring, I mean seriously how can everyone be so attached to Gordan Freeman when he never talks or even does anything? Fuck even Master Chief appears in cutscenes and says SOMETHING, and yet everyone is rooting for some dickhead who everyone wouldn't even recognize if it weren't for the box art?

The reason ever one likes Gordon is because he is a quite nerd who is surrounded by the dumbest people in the world. So most nerds think they can relate.

Uncharted.
Lolwat, that game is underrated. It deserves far more praise than it got.

Portal.

It doesn't deserve the obscene amount of praise it gets.
I disagree. I loved Portal, and while HL2 is definitely better, Portal really stands out as a leap in creativity.

For me, it definitely has to be Modern Warfare 2. It had a short, stupid campaign, multiplayer that was a step backwards from CoD 4, and this game received a metascore of 94. The only thing they added was a co op mode which isn't even that good. The reviews of this game drive me to insanity because they state the major flaws and give it 10/10 anyways and people praise it.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Oh I could make a whole list of these, but since it's most overrated I'll also pick Final Fantasy VII. I know it's the first Final Fantasy (jRPG even) for a lot of gamers, but it has seriously shallow/bland characters. Wouldn't even been that bad, just an average RPG, but those characters apparently are the most popular ones of all video gaming... blegh...

Also hi.

For me the answer is any game that is hugely hyped at any given time, even if I like it: because very little of my own gaming experiences can match the a 9.5 review that inevitably comes along for MW2, Halo 3, GTA4, etc..

Hype is what kills games.

O.T. Currently it has to be MW2.

Fallout 3, Horribly balanced and way too many perks that were just skillpoint adders. A step back even compared to oblivion.

In what way was multiplayer a step back? I'm not trying to start an argument I am just curious.

And I would say Halo and GTA 4.

If anybody has been observant enough to observe the obvious scoring system used by Steam to rate the quality of a game, you will notice that Call of Money - Modern Rehash 2 has a score comparable (and slightly higher) to that of Borderlands.

I want to make this clear.

A game that had an advertising campaign comparable in price and extravagance to a presidential race scores only marginally higher than a (fantastic) game that had a handful of TV ads and a voice-over from a caged zoo animal for the trailer on a rating system used by over a million players.

yeah: Over-hyped into orbit.

Not going to defend Modern Warfare 2. I love it, but I'm not going to defend it.

OT: For me, personally, it's the Half-Life series. I don't know why people declare it better than the second coming with a story by God, gameplay by Zeus and graphics hand made by Buddha because all I played in The Orange Box was an above average game with endless enemies, mediocre graphics and a plot that is barely there and failed to make me give a damn. Oh, and this is a series that loves cliffhanger endings... that at this rate (and for PS3 owners at least) will never get fucking resolved.

So yeah, Half-Life. Oh, and GTA4: When The Series Forgot The Concept Of Fun. Now if you excuse me, there's a 9:45 plane to Non-Fanboy Island with my name on it. (flees)
