Most overrated games of the current gaming era

I'm not gonna say Halo or Gears. I'm gonna say either Mirrors Edge or Resident Evil 5.
The Former got old real fast and the story sucked. The latter was just mind numbingly frustrating unless I played with a friend. Through in the quick time events and the easy boss fights and you basically lose out.

hmn.. i'd have to say GTA4, last good GTA game in opinuon was GTA2, now that game was pure awesome...
Killzone 2, although a solid shooter, with fantastic visuals is nothing more than that. Also i dunno about you, but i payd 40 quid for that game, and am not happy to be paying an extra 10 quid for, what is it now three?, expansions that contain what? 2 maps?... uhm that it?
Also i...fuck it i give up.. just about any major release is overrated... it's called advertising... and fanboys get sucked into it preaching the awesomeness of [inserd overrated high profile game title] to everybody who will give them half a second. Im not saying the likes of Halo 3, GTA4, Mass Effect and Killzone 2 aren't good, they are just overhyped, but then again most of us bought these games because of the hype... so can we really blame the publishers? it works.

Got to be Assassins Creed for me. Sure GTA IV was a disappointment when compared to the PS2 games, but AC was just utter crapola. I still hear people praise it and I'm just gobsmacked. Seriously?! Great graphics sure, but big deal, I want to enjoy a game not endure it.
I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say this. WoW is so mind-numingly overated I can hardly beleive it. Worse yet I seem to be the only person I know who hasn't been drawn into playing it. quite honestly wow is not overrated... just bear with me here... it really well designed, its got stable and good progression, and a whole load of end game content to engage in. the fact that it has 11 mill subscribers or whatever speaks for itself... Now what wow is, is a casual game, what it isn't is a hardcore game. for people who play video games as a hobby, like most of us here i presume, wow is not terribly interesting. It is however, the pinnacle of good commercial game design, and it's never pretended to be otherwise. No one has ever presented wow as the game to end all games, i've never herd anyone say 'wow is liek teh best ghayme evahh!!!'. Sure i played it, and found it interesting enough, even got to lvl 70, but it will never compare to the harcore fps and rts games that i prefer, but it is not overrated. What those people don't realize is they are actually making the game more appeasing to certain brackets of the "precious youth" they are trying to protect from it. Good press, bad press... it's just free advertisement in the end.
I would say games are over hyped overrated is just someones opinion. There were a lotta games that were overhyped, honestly I thought Red Faction would be over hyped but I freaking love the game, I'm playing it through again curling spines with my hammer.
