Definitely Fable 3 for all my friends kept going on about how good it was, it's one of those rare games for me that I gave up on before completion of the main quest.

Anything by Valve, I know I'm going to get some hate for this but let me explain. Everyone hypes those games up so much that no new players can get into their games without being dissapointed, like everyone claims that anything by Valve is descended from heaven and served on a gold platter. I'm not saying that they're bad games, I'm just saying that people hype them up and proclaim them better than anything else. It leads to much dissapointment.

Personally, I think Morrowind and the Portal games. Not that they're bad, they've just been ruined for me by all the hype by EVERYONE saying how awesome they are.
You let other people influence your personal experience of a game that much? Wow.

For me it's probably Minecraft. I can see the appeal but it's hardly a game.
I can see how it ruin his expericance its like when you enjoy somthing but everybody goes on n on n on n on about it eventually you grow to hate it because your so sick of hearing about it. Nerd culture is bad for that I have been turned off things because of that happening it's starting to ruin anime for me to be honest

The Legend of Zelda OOT : yes it's a fantastic game, however it's NOT the best game of all time, especially if the later Zelda games are superior.

Super Mario Galaxy: to me it's not nearly as good as Super Mario Sunshine, the levels are not huge and do not allow exploration as much as 64 and Sunshine (did not play SMG2 though)

Resident Evil Franchise: lame gameplay mixed with the most -So bad it's funny- kind of story in gaming history.

Doom 3: Zzzzzz
Really? Original 3 Resident evils are like my favorite games of all tine. I never heard alot of praise for them even in the 90s so dont know how its overrated.

As for the OP.

Psychonauts. Just my god i've never heard so much praise for an awful game that was just horrid, am still bitter for spending 60$ for it.

Shadow of the colossus. Such an idiotic plot and boring game play and its praised as art. Ya sure.... sigh...

Half life 2. Just awful it was bad back in the day and when i tried to play it again with the release of the orange box it was still just bad.

Portal. Pretty much what i said for Psychonauts minus the 60$ and amplify the praise.
No, no, no, and *no*. Sir, I'd recommend a doctor. ASAP.

I'm gonna have to go with Bioshock.

Don't get me wrong here, it's a good game. I did, in fact, enjoy it. But I really don't think it deserves the credit that it gets.

I've said it before on these forums, and I'm sure I'll say it again from time to time, but I love the System Shock games. Probably to an unhealthy degree. When I was playing through Bioshock I couldn't help but constantly feel like I was playing through a graphically advanced, but severely watered-down, version of System Shock 2.

It's like they took System Shock 2, took everything awesome about it, and in trying to refine those things, somehow managed to make them worse. Words can't even describe how much a single playthrough of Bioshock made me hate Pipe Dream, whereas dozens of playthroughs of System Shock 2 didn't inspire any real hate at all for hacking (even while being harder than Bioshock hacking).

Literally the only thing I felt that Bioshock did better than System Shock 2 was getting rid of weapon degredation. That's really about it.

Bioshock was still a good game, I still had fun with it, and I don't regret spending the money or time on it at all. But it makes me really sad to see how huge of a fanbase it got, while System Shock (both games) got just as much critical aclaim... but little more than a cult fanbase. It's kind of a pity.
Thank you, sir, for at least being polite and EXPLAINING your opinion without acting like a high-and-mighty intellectual jerkoff. If only certain OTHER posters had as much courtesy, and didn't bash well-made games for not being something they're interested in.

Am far to busy Playing Guilty Gear Accent Core, the greatest game of all time so see one. I stand by all my statements. Yet people will still call me a troll because i dont follow the list of the Ten Commandments of the escapist community.

Also nice little shot at me. Would you want me to go in depth on everything? Why is it am terrible for not yet your not bugging other people here just going. Lol Cod, or Lol Re. Am pretty sure over my time here i've explained why for all those games and you know what happens? still get called a troll. So why bother...

Although I love all the games, I'm kind of disappointed it didn't turn out to be "Hitman in Medieval times" like the first one seemed to promise and took it's own path.

Admittedly, I could have gone into more detail about why exactly I thought System Shock did things better, and what those things are, but I don't really see the point. Just because, in my opinion, System Shock did something better doesn't mean that I think Bioshock did it bad. It was still a very good game.

The only thing I really think it did bad was hacking. I got really, really tired of Pipe Dream. And a friend of mine wasn't too happy with the sequel's hacking mechanic either, being a colorblind gamer.

Oh, and clowns. Fucking clowns. I hate that goddamn Circus of Values.

Well with CoD or RE the absurdity of the games speak for themselves. If someone were to tell me that they hated Casablanca, or the Wizard of Oz, or Grapes of Wrath, I'd probably call them a troll. Similar situation.

I'm not sure I understand that logic. If an individual sees a movie, like let's say Casablanca, and doesn't like it... why is that person not entitled to think it's overrated? The idea of labeling something as overrated is completely subjective. Just because that individual thinks Casablanca is overrated doesn't mean it actually is (because that's impossible to quantify), just that they feel it is.

And besides, everything works both ways. If you think he's wrong for calling something you like overrated, just remember, you might think that something he likes is overrated.

I don't mean I'd call them a troll for thinking it was overrated, that I could understand; I'd call them a troll for saying it was awful, as Mr. Legion IV has with regards to the games he mentioned.

I dunno. I thought Black Ops was pretty awful. In my eyes it failed to deliver on just about every level. But it's purely my opinion. Lots of people out there love Black Ops, and to each their own.

It's not really worth getting all beat out of shape because someone has different tastes from me.

Even if they are just trollin'.

Portal 1, Half Life 2 and bioshock. I do like these games even if bioshock went to crap IMO in the second half but the amount of following they get is ridicules. They are good but they didn't descend from the heavens.

GoldenEye 007 on the N64

I loved that game as a kid, but it's a piece of crap in hindsight. It's held up purely for nostalgia. Rare's best shooter on the N64, and possibly the best shooter on the N64 period, was Perfect Dark. It was better in every way.
