Oh, the computer kept offering me cake, ha ha ha ha ha ha! Lets make an annoying meme out of it, despite the fact that the line "The cake is a lie" was never ever spoken in this game! Ha ha ha!

Yeah. That joke didn't fly over my head, it hit me in the goddammed face.

I was not speaking of the cake and its memetically mutated unconfirmed status; whether or not that's humorous is left to the beholder.

I was talking about the companion cube, and how you didn't get the joke. It was funny because it was an otherwise unremarkable steel box emblematized with a pink heart and bestowed with a nonexistent value by a computer who tried and failed to stimulate human emotion. The Companion Cube wasn't funny by itself, but was made so by the AI's comically inept attempt at pulling your strings. It was funny for the same reason that it's funny watching a seven-year old try to manipulate a forty-year old: they have no idea how to do so, but they insist on trying anyways, and as such make a farce of the entire scenario.

But as you say, you can't win em' all.

Chuck norris jokes stopped being funny when they became chuck norris jokes instead of the original "Random fact about Vin Diesel" online fact generator. Largely because you could put in both macho jokes, gay jokes, and a combination of the two with Vin Diesel (like 300).
