Rocky Horror Picture show.
I swear, only one in five people have even heard of it.
I had to teach a few of my friends how to do the Time Warp the other day, too.
Really? Someone played it in our common room in High School. Everyone started doing the Time Warp. It. Was. Awesome.

One of the best movies I've ever seen and particularly appealing to gamer sensibilities. Great story, believable actors, lots of fun. Just check out the site and tell me you aren't curious.

Yellowbeard - a really stupid movie about pirates, featuring some of Monty Python and Marty Feldman

Cube - a sort of sci-fi-horror-mystery movie, with people waking up in a cube shaped prison room, a door on each face, unlocked... yet some of the rooms have booby traps. What I like about it was it's more about the people than the traps. Cube Zero is the prequel and is excellent too imo, tho the sequel I didn't think so much of.

Idiocracy - a movie where a decidedly average guy in the US army is accidentally frozen for 500 years, during which the stupidity inherent in the human race gets out of hand and he finds he's now the smartest man alive. Features Owen Wilson yet is still good!

Amazon Women on the Moon - spoof movie released around the 'airplane!' era, and of a similar style.

Cypher - splits opinions but I liked it, a near future movie about industrial secrets and espionage.

Nothing - a strange movie I discovered about 2 guys who live a crappy life, but one wakes up and realises he can wish things out of existence.

Dog Soldiers - current day werewolf movie, British and low budget and works wonderfully.

"How I Won the War". Really weird at first, but after seeing it a second time you begin to understand the humor in it.

My lesser known personal favorites:

Quiet Earth - New Zealand indie sci-fi flick, quite well done

Oscar - An ensemble comedy (yes, starring Sylvester Stallone, but come on - Tim Curry, Marisa Tomei, and Kurtwood Smith?) Unlikely main star, but really quite a funny film

Without a Clue - Best. Sherlock. Holmes. Movie. Ever. Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley? Guaranteed Win

Death Trap - Murder comedy fun with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeves

Dragon Hunters - Wonderfully poignant French CGI cartoon/movie, but the themes in it are definitely not 'just for kids'

Hero - Visually arresting Chinese movie starring Jet Li

Let The Right One In. It's one of the best vampire movies in the last decade.

Kikujiro no Natsu. I saw this movie on TV once but I can't seem to find it again. It's so bizarre but it was hilarious in its weirdness and crass humour.

I heard that there were plans of remaking Sisters, but I haven't heard of any updates recently.
Oh jeez, I really hope not :/ Most remakes of Asian movies (with the exception of A Fistful of Dollars and The Magnificent Seven, I suppose) are pretty godawful.

Some Spanish-language recommendations:
If you're at all a movie nerd you've heard of Pedro Almodovar, but on the off chance that you're not, my favourite of his films is Women on the Edge of a Nervous Breakdown. Pan's Labyrinth is super-famous, but not a lot of people have seen del Toro's other equally-good Spanish Civil War movie, The Devil's Backbone. Open Your Eyes, by Alejandro Amenabar, was the original movie Vanilla Sky was based off of, but don't let that put you off; Open Your Eyes is terrific.

If you like your horror cosmic, there's a black-and-white silent film adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu that the HP Lovecraft Historical Society made a few years ago. If you don't already like Lovecraft you probably won't get much out of it, but if you do, it's awfully cute (and the puppetry is actually pretty rad). There's also a hilariously awful adaptation of The Shadow over Innsmouth called Dagon starring a guy who looks like Clark Kent.

Jesus' Son (sort of like Forest Gump if Forest Gump was a junkie)
Thursday (a bunch of hitmen try to kill a guy they think is someone else)
Joyeux Noel ( a French film about the Christmas Day treaty during WWI)

Plan Nine from Outer Space. Been voted the worst film ever made but it's so dreadful it's a joy to watch with a few friends.
It couldn't possibly be worse than this movie I saw on Space (Canadian equivalent of the Sci Fi channel) once. It was an old, well I'm guessing it was supposed to be horror, but it kinda fell flat; anyway it was simply titled 'SSSSSSSSSS', and that should give you an idea just how bad this movie was.

OT: There was movie I remember watching once as a kid, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called. I can remember just about everything else about it, enough that I could give a Reader's Digest summery of it, but I can't remember what it's called or the character's names.

Another of my favourite childhood movies however is The NeverEnding Story. If you cannot appreciate that story, then you truly have no soul.

Black Sheep; it has a stupid plot, bad acting, and more than one fart joke. But, if you enjoy zombie movies, it's worth a look.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - it's a 'noire comedy' with two unbelievably cool performances from Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. Please see this film, it is truly mind-blowingly awesome - my personal favourite film of all time. It put the first actor back on the map and proved the second can still act after the batnipples fiasco.

Accepted - the only teen comedy I've laughed at since... well, for quite a long while. It's also one of the few roles that Justin Long has been any good in (the other one being as the doctor in Idiocracy). The premise, making up your own college because you couldn't get into any, is just comedy gold right off the bat.

Go - Oh yeah, that's the last teen comedy that made me laugh. But then again, the characters are just past their teens and its not much of a comedy. Still, great movie about a drug caper gone wrong.

Cashback - British movie about an art student with insomnia (there is some artistic license used here, there is no way you could go as long as this guy does without sleep) who can STOP TIME. Yes, it's awesome. It's also a great comedy and a nice love story. Very beautiful, moody but not self-indulgent. Oh yeah, and the lead is the guy who played Oliver Wood in the Harry Potter movies. His last name is Biggerstaff or something. Get it? *nudge* *nudge* Wood?

*Ahem*

.45 - Not a brilliant film by any means, but a very good film. So why did I list it? Well, because it's pretty much the only proof that Mila Jovovich can actually act worth a damn. She's also suitably kickass in this, although its a drama, not an action flick.

Gone Baby Gone - Directed by Ben Affleck and starring his lil' bro Casey, it's set in Boston and is about a missing kid that a private detective is hired to find. It got completely overlooked the year it came out, which is a shame because it raises a lot of ethical questions while being a good thriller.

Hard Candy - Ellen Page is awesome in this. If I say much more, the movie will be ruined. Not exactly light material though.

In the Loop - One of the best movies of 2009 IMO. It's about British bureaucrats and is based on the tv show In the Thick Of It (which I unfortunately haven't watched yet). Downright hilarious.

Shoot 'Em Up - Greatest action film I've seen in a looooong time. Don't be fooled by the title, this is not a B-movie by any means. It's too bad this didn't come out earlier or more people would have supported Clive Owen for the Bond role I think.

Meh, I have more, basically just copying from my Facebook page now. But these are the main ones. I watch too many films.....

Its simply the funniest/Greatest sports movie ever
awesome move. Push is another good one. My friends and I went into that one with expectations of mediocrity, but it ended up being pretty good.

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". It might be known to older audiences, but I swear I'm the only 14-year-old who's ever even heard of it (as well as had to pleasure of watching it.)
