Everyone I know hates Fight Club which is my favorite movie.
Really?
You must know alot of people who have no taste in cinema, that film is one of the best ever made.

OT: I love Planet Terror and especially Drag me to Hell (best film of 2009 imo) but they got very mixed reviews, some loved it and some really hated it. I think those who hated them didn't get the point that they are meant to be tongue in cheek B-movies with A-movie budgets. Both films are ingenious in my opinion but i am a bit of a Robert Rodriguez and Sam Raimi fanboy...

The Phantom Menace.

First film I saw at the cinema, and it's fucking good.

Jar Jar is just 'meh' and midichlorians are a tool to explain Anakin's potential and his role as the Chosen One, they AREN'T the force itself, nor are they there to explain it.

Now quit your whining.

The remake of Solaris with George Clooney is one of my favourite films, but I know of few people that like it.
I did not understand that film in the slightest. Fair enough if you want me to interpret something, but I can't interpret every single moment. Do they even say what Solaris is?

Maybe I just shut off when they were explaining stuff.
I too enjoyed Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and all the other prequels. Yes, I grew up on the original trilogy as well, I can like them all and I do.

Midichlorians were inserted by Lucas to shut up the religious nuts who were afraid he was promoting Buddhism to children. he mentioned them a little in the movie and then never again because even he doesn't buy that crap. he made it scientific so all of the whiny parents would leave it the hell alone. Did it mess up some things? Yes, but then again so do religious nuts like that.

Jar Jar was inserted for the kids to make it a little more accessible to them. The other things such as politics, religion, slavery, and immaculate conception may not have held the children's interest as much as watching a goof ball hurt himself. Just ignore it and move on.
Also: midi-chlorians were around in 1977 - that's the year the original was released people! I don't know about that Buddhism thing though. I know a bunch of religious nuts protested at the film's release because they thought people would believe in the force and that would take them away from God - apparently believing in one pretend being is worse than believing in another.

Most of my favorite movies got mediocre review scores, and not many people I know in real life like them.

Shooter, Doomsday, Orphan and Van Helsing all didn't score all that well, but I really like them. ^_^

Dragonheart. Every line is memorable. The best complaints people can come up with is how good everyone's teeth look for the period and how Sean Connery's voice was unfitting for Draco. Sean Connery could voice a squirrel or a fly and still make it sound awesome.

Watchmen, and whenever i say that some one always brings Dr. lower Manhattan. It pisses me off, that movie was so good and all you remember is the big blue naked guy. I really hate those people.
Also I enjoyed Prince of Persia, not it wasn't amazing, but it was fun, and relatively good. But there is so much hate for that movie.

While I don't like The Phantom Menace as much as the other films, I still like it. I also like Van Helsing (It's a fun movie) and Iron Man 2.

EDIT: Oh! Watchmen too. I thought it was a good film.

oh i will get a lot of hate but f*ck it, i like the the phantom menace, clone wars and revenge of the sith
Me too, although Phantom Menace is my least favourite of the six Star Wars films and I can understand why people don't like the prequel trilogy, I liked the trilogy enough to have bought the DVD box set.

I can't think of any other movies that other people hate that I like at the moment but game wise, I love Final Fantasy 13 and 2/3 of my friends that I talk to, hate it. One friend in particular absolutely loathes it (again, I understand why although Dirge of Cerberus is a lot worse).

I also liked Avatar which seems to have mixed reviews, it had an overused storyline but despite this I still liked the movie's plot, I just hope that movies won't all become about the 3D and special effects and keep concentration on the plot as well.

Waterworld. The friends I saw it with also really liked it. Sure it's a little cheesey but I still don't get why everyone else couldn't stand it.

I can't really answer that question because whatever movie I like I can always find SOMEONE out there who also likes it. I mean, I love Clockwork Orange, which all of my friends hate, but my dad likes it.

If you were to ask what bands I like that others hate, well, that's an entirely different story.

Hmmm, movies that everyone but me hates. Well I know quite a few people hate equilibrium, but I think that it would be quite a hit on these forums, just like how army of darkness is.
Equilibrium was sweet!

And I like the Room by tommy wiseau. It is so bad that it is good!
