the incredibly happy pop music. Its just grating, how can someone be so optimistic when they themselves are a corporate creation, used solely for the purpose of making money (yes you hannah montana) that and some rap. I cant say all though

Screamo/death metal I really dont get it to me the lyrics seem pathetic and the sound its like listening to a pig choking on a pipe cleaner, even the instrumentals suck bleh. That and country yet to hear anything compelling that isnt a slow dronefest about cowboys/fields/drinking yawn.
I agree for screamo and a fair bit of death metal, although when you get past the vocals in some of the good death metal, you would be surprised at the musicianship.
Example? Opeth.
It's true there's a lot of rubbish death metal out there but if you want to generalise under that context then, realistically, you'd have to say that every genre that has rubbish bands in it must also suck.
Don't pigeon hole a whole genre just because you've heard some bands that suck. Some bands (like Opeth) are incredible and I can guarantee that 1 member of Opeth would have more musical talent in their left hand than an entire band you hear on the radio nowadays.

In regards to the OP, i'm very musically eclectic. I can probably name a band I like for any genre.
Seeing as the general hate here leans towards Country and Rap I'll cover those 2:-

Country - Bruce Springsteen, Dustin Kensrue, Ryan Adams
Rap - UNKLE (earlier stuff), Hermitude (more hip-hop), Eminem

I think every genre has something compelling to offer and you should always hold your judgement until you can be sure. Bastardising an entire genre before you've heard what it has to offer in its entirety is straight out ignorance//narrow-mindedness.

I actually like rap, at least from the 90s. But my most hated music genre would have to be indie rock. I just never saw the appeal of it.

I can't stand Rap (Retards Attempting Poetry), Post Rock (Ever heard of it... Didn't think so.), and most definitely Corey Smith (What ever genre that is).
There was a thread just yesterday about how you are wrong.
when you are talking about peoples opinions, no answer is "wrong".

personally, I foind most genres have something I like, and it seems the universe has decided to prove that to me every time i say I dont like ____ music. but i genuinely dont like jungle, rave or other music that is just a beat with sounds.

Rap (and all bordering genres IE hip-hop), modern country (I like old country IE America), screamo, and modern no-talent pop.

I can still respect people's enjoyment of all the above genres except for rap. I just have no clue why it's enjoyable in the least. It's like someone is raping my ear... do people like being on the receiving end of an ear rape?

Gangsta Rap, pure-pop music (i.e., the stuff that's made just based on what's popular at that exact moment in time and has less staying power than a fart in a strong wind), Fallout Boy. That's about it.

cant stand hip-hop or rap, any of those sissy modern boy bands with whiney voices, anything too synthesized loses its value to me. I still manage to have a taste for electronic music though, when its done naturally (see: Holy Fuck)(yes thats really a bands name and they rock)

I hate mainstream rap like Wayne and 50 with a burning fucking passion. I prefer metal mixed with rap, like rage against the machine or Motown Rage.

Not a fan of techno, but i like industrial (sue me). I also can't stand rap as i believe it isn't music, but rather just Prose with music in the background.

This is just to vent your obvious hate of other music genres.

Go to Gamespot Forums if you want to act like that.

Rap generally sucks balls these days. I liked more of it from the 80s and 90s because there was so much variation in style, beat and whatever you had to try really hard to find something you didn't like. Today, 99.9% of it is gangsta rap, which easily is the shittiest of the bunch. When was the last time 50 Cent visited the 'hood? Or any of the other rappers for that sake. True, you might get mean neighbours in Beverly Hills and the likes but I believe there may be a difference between the two places.

Also, I have no idea what this genre is but it's easily the most horrible music I've heard in recent years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8F5YSA1Oz0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa6qpgLvH30
Same band, same horrible music.

Protip: Hip hop is a musical genre. Rap is the vocal style used in the majority of hip hop music. They are not two different genres.

Also, people who say they hate screamo are probably thinking of shit like A Day To Remember which is not screamo, but pop punk bands attempting to play metalcore. Real screamo, such as Envy, Circle Takes The Square, Orchid, Saetia, Pg. 99 etc is actually pretty good.

I don't get why so many people hate country. I'm not a massive fan but there's much worse stuff out there.

I really hate the majority of modern pop music. But I love retro pop.

Yeah, you get some melodeath (melodic death metal) bands which are pretty good, like In Flames, or Dark Tranquillity, since they're pretty tame insofar as death metal goes, and are a good starting point for trying to listen to the genre.

Personally, I don't enjoy hip-hop or dance, including any derivatives of those two. Country I can live with, but I don't enjoy it, and the same goes for Jazz and Blues.
