Screamo and Nu Metal. Bunch of whiney kids trying to be Metallica.

Rap, hip hop, pop and all the other things I probably should hate I either have no opinion on or I DO like them, just not enough to actively try and listen to them.

And saying that my comment has no effect on the quality of these sound genres will not improve the quality of those genres either.
I completely agree with you, those genres are shit no matter how we address them verbally.
I am merely stating that your preferences in musical ventures do not heighten the worth of music you prefer. There are no winners or losers in sound organized to happen on a specific timescale. Quality is a shaky and irrelevant term when applied to music - I'm taking it to pure mechanics.
There is no need to state something that we have already agreed on.

Quality in music is not irrelevant.
Music is the composition of melody, rhythm and timbre. Already here some of the poorer genres of sound fall through.
Polyphony is vital. With no polyphony, all you get is simple music.
Poetry is also used in combination with music, this adds to the quality of the music.
Variation is very important.

I would have said Slipknot six months ago, but i was listening to them recently and I found them rather light.

I cant say rap, because I like Sage Francis and Jay-z.

AS for country, I dont like anyone in particular, but I think it can be pretty good. Is "tears in heaven" country? because I like that

Metal, well im listening to We Came As Romans right now and loving every second of it, so probably not
See, that's the slippery bit. He says "pick a genre". Well, I might like some country, but that doesn't mean I like Toby Keith. Or I might like a lot of ska, but think the label bands are sell-outs. Coolio was okay, but most rap is too fast to catch the words, so what's the point? A lot of exceptions in there.
I agree. This thread is stupid. Youre Stupid ALuckyChance. (thats what you were going for right?)

Everything... except ICP. Fuck ICP.
Whats wrong with ICP? I bet you just an eminem fanboy who just blindly hates them because his idiol does. Eminem is a commercial sell out. ICP does everything on their own and still he has the nerve to call them out. He has it fucking easy compared to ICP and should stop complaining about something less then half of his fanbase knows about.
Haha wow..

There are a lot of reasons to hate ICP, but "because Eminem does" is one that I would not think of.

Anyways.

These threads always make me feel a little funny. I don't think I can say I hate an genre, because there is a lot of music in an entire genre and I'd probably like at least some of it.

I think I'm just going to say "I hate bad music" and leave it at that.

I think he hates ICP because they are incredibly bad.

Screamo metal. If I wanted to hear people screaming in my ear, I'd go find my baby nephew.

Any genre of music in which the vocalist finds that singing is stupid and that growling and screeching are so much better can suck the leftmost two-thirds of my right testicle.

The only good death metal is made by Dethklok, which is a band that is in itself a parody of death metal.

None. 99% of all genres are shit. There's still lots of great stuff in each.

except crunkcore

You'd be surprised at the sheer amount of misogyny in all genres of music, namely classic rock as well. You have a fair enough point about rap music, but I'd be hard-pressed to find any misogynistic lyrics from The Coup.

I don't "hate" any particular genre. I do however, tend to prefer certain genres to others. I typically prefer metal in it's more progressive or experimental iterations, although the other sub-genres also have their charms. Classical is also nice. I'm particularly fond of Russian composers myself (Rachmaninoff is God). Folk (not the Johnathan Coulton kind, but the banjo/washboardy kind), country, and rap tend to be the genres I have the least interest in, although I do enjoy some songs/artists in these genres.

Country... I just... don't understand how anybody could listen to it. Some rap's is alright, not all of it, though.

Granted, I suppose large supporters of those two genres could say the same thing about metal and rock.

Peace~

The extreme of any genre. Vapid pop music, headache inducing rock, country featuring a banjo.

Eh, I would say that I strongly dislike Reggae.

Mind you, I'm certain a fan could supply me with songs I like because my dislike stems from my ignorance and whitewashing. A great deal of hatred for music stems from this, I figure, as the reasons often given do exactly that to the genre(IE: 'Death metal is just thrashing on the guitar', 'the vocals need no skill' being common misconceptions).

That being said, I also dislike dance music and a great deal of techno. If anyone would be willing to supply me with suggestions, though, I would be obgliged.

Country, rap (most of the time), gospel, stuff like Britney Spears or The Backstreet Boys.
