Texas, proving once again that it's where the American sense of culture and justice goes to die.

Well it is texas....

I am just waiting for the lawsuit to hit another court then we will see big news story and small school will be smashed by angry people and lawsuits. Stupid choice there school person, stupid choice.

Also why was a person accused of rape and convicted of assult on the team in the first place?

Dear, Texas:
FUCK YOU. You are rednecks and we are actively praying to every god that we can think of with the intent of making you secede, thus sparing us any further embarrassment.
Love, the rest of the country.

Come on everybody, lay off Texas. Like all of you don't have senseless dumb-fucks (like the people involved in this incident) in the places where you live. Stop generalizing all texans as senseless rednecks who are all just as mentally skewed as these poisonous assholes.

That would be like condemning Australia because they've got spiders the size of golden retrievers. Texas usually has a better sense of justice (and common sense) when it comes to these things.

And may the record show that Tx. is quite industrialized, and doesnt house the vast sea of rednecks you seem to think it does. Most people I know (myself included) hate rednecks/sports-above-all-else fuckheads.
I think you missed some of the point that people say things like this everyone I know uses it as a kind of "not my state response". Yes I know you are in Texas so you take most of these to heart. As I am from Arizona people know I am an anti-Mexican person thanks to my esteemed leaders and the not so great word choice.

These statements are like my thread about California drivers a nice amount of people knew the saying, doesn't mean all people in California are bad drivers, just enough to get them a national nickname.

Don?t worry about offending any state it is just an invisible line drawn by a person and maybe a sign.

Because sports are more important than a person's well being. Of course! It's all so clear to me now... /sarcasm
What? Sarcasm!? Are you kidding? What is the life and well being of a human being compared to people throwing a ball around? You sir are a shallow person with no emotions.

I gave up on humanity long ago. I was brutally assaulted by a supposed, "friend", who torn several ligaments in my neck. But because his mother begged us not to have them arrested and we agreed to it he was kicked off the team for the big game. Then everyone was pissed at me for getting him kicked off because he was the quarterback and was treated as an outsider even by my friends. Eventually the hatred was gone but I lost all faith in humanity by then.

Am I the first person to read that story and take it with more then a grain of salt?

1. The [story] is published on a woman's victims group site, there's no way in HELL that it's fair and unbiased.

2. If they had enough evidence to convict this guy on rape THEY WOULD HAVE! District Attorneys don't just let people plea bargain because they want to.

I'm not saying Texas isn't a fucked up place (I lived there, it can be.) but it's kinda shitty to take sides without hearing the whole story, or even hearing an unbiased account of the story.

Escapist Community, I expected better from you.

[edit] for grammar correction.

Wow. I didn't get halfway through the first page before the Texas-flaming got too fucking much for me. What a sickening bunch of brain-dead degenerate trolls. You are truly the scum of The Escapist community. This story has nothing to do with Texas, imbeciles. This sort of thing could just as easily happen--and does happen--anyfuckingwhere else.

If there's any justice on these forums at all, a mass ban will be incoming.

I don't get it, he didn't get convicted for rape at all? He didn't, according to the article. It was merely lesser assault charges, and he didn't even go to jail.

I think the situation is blown beyond proportions and that people are just overreacting.

I'm stunned the boy in question was still on the team. Law requires that he be allowed to still attend school, but allowing him to participate in extracurricular activity is just stupid. Unfortunately I have the feeling he wasn't kicked off because the team wouldn't win without him...and more often than not a schools win-loss record for sports is more important to the administrators than any sense of morality or ethical obligations.

On another note, anyone able to find an article on this anywhere other than this blog?

Hold on a second... if he is a known rapist, then why is he even still on the team? That whole story is messed up...
Because the school has ridiculously fucked up priorities. That's really all this is. The school is putting its appearance and athletic performance over the mental and emotional wellbeing of its students. It's ridiculous that a court upheld this decision, and if I was there I would've punched the judge and everyone else involved.

Oooo that's a little too much don't you think? People here were shocked and did not write logical and sensible answers.

Can I call hypocrite?I'm assuming here because you have not posted anything relevant to the thread at hand except for losing faith because of a single thread.

If you're saying we're over-reacting of the faith being lost or the racism towards Texas you are too. This thread isn't the Escapist in a bundle, it's just Teen angst and shock/anger.

Also please, Texas is not humanity. It's just a part of it that happened to be posted here! Your faith in humanity should only be near being lost if every damn country and court did this.
