Nonetheless, I have nothing against Texas. Their accents are just darling and they probably have the most hardcore-awesome federal (not state, as we've noticed) courts in the country. Just go somewhere where there's lots of people per square mile.

FUCK YOU. You are rednecks and we are actively praying to every god that we can think of with the intent of making you secede, thus sparing us any further embarrassment.
Love, the rest of the country.
Dear, Xenophobic "rest of country":

Wow way to be close-minded. Just because us Texans are different, you gotta hate us, don't you? No, I don't agree with the story, but at least I don't go and insult an entire state because of one school. You certainly aren't helping us get out of the redneck stereotype by showing us that, by what you say, everyone else hates us. You are driving us to become like you, xenophobic, and it's just not very nice.

Love, Texas.
Yeah, Don't mess with Texas.
Hehehehe. Excuse me while I laugh. They start crying at the drop of a hat when people insult them instead of... y'know... making an effort to change. (Should've said "rest of world")

Dude, seriously? This kind of shit can happen anywhere; and I do mean anywhere. Don't be mad at Texas, be mad at the society that allows the kind of entitlement that leads to these kind of abuse, but most of all be mad at the asshole that raped the poor girl in the first place. News flash: stories like this come from California and Texas because they're two of the most populous states therefore things happen there more just because of sheer numbers. I'm a Texan, and damn proud of it and you can bet that most of us are just as pissed off about this as you are if not more. This is for all you guys saying "that's Texas for you". The problem isn't geography, and it's not unique to the American South/Southwest. The problem is people being assholes, and that is the only universal constant. I've never considered myself one of "those" Texans, but this just pisses me off. When you place the blame on anyone other than the person responsible for something like this, you do severe injustice to the victim.
Nah, when football takes precedence over common sense, it's pretty unique to Texas and the southwest.

Come on everybody, lay off Texas. Like all of you don't have senseless dumb-fucks (like the people involved in this incident) in the places where you live. Stop generalizing all texans as senseless rednecks who are all just as mentally skewed as these poisonous assholes.

That would be like condemning Australia because they've got spiders the size of golden retrievers. Texas usually has a better sense of justice (and common sense) when it comes to these things.

And may the record show that Tx. is quite industrialized, and doesnt house the vast sea of rednecks you seem to think it does. Most people I know (myself included) hate rednecks/sports-above-all-else fuckheads.
I would make the same statements about my state. Yes I generalized and I believe that no matter where you are, 51%+ of people or more are sane reasonable people, but at the same time we all hear stories about Texas, and the stereotype is kinda negative in most parts of America, do I think all people from Texas are insane gun lovin yuppys no, but at the same time when I hear that the Texas School Board, who has control of most of the text book production in the United States wants to sensor what we learn in our textbooks, I think more negatively of the state and Ill admit thats a boo boo on my part, but I will proudly call my state the hypocrite state, just for clarification the state I live in is Wyoming and our Motto is "The Equality state" though all you get here is a bunch of people who openly bash minorities, Gays, Blacks, and Mexicans mostly, we live in a very conservative state, and although I understand that not all conservatives think this way, many people base there opinions on ignorant bigoted statements not on modern opinions such as homosexuality being a choice, and of course this made me think that all red states think this way, as a majority.
I take it they're big on commas in Wyoming? I understand that it may be a conservative state, but its OK to use a period every once in awhile.

I'm sorry, I know you were trying to make an important statement, but if I were you I would first get my (heaviest redneck voice I can muster) EJ-A-MA-KAY-SHUN, before I started taking stabs at somone elses state.
If your going to make a comment about my punctuation, I would at least spell someone right. When I get going I tend to just ignore the difference between commas and periods and just use commas. Probably the same reason why you just misspelled someone I stated that generalizing your state was a mistake on my part, but I made it perfectly clear why I made that assumption.

Really? I remember Michael Vick getting off pretty easy for his dog fighting ring. And Kobe getting off Scott free for raping a fan. Then there was the whole O.J. fiasco. I could go on, but you get the point. Fact is people get off when they have connections or they're important to the community in some way. That's the way "justice" has always worked, and is in no way unique to Texas, or even America. I'm sure many similar occurrences have happened all over the world.

Eh, I can kinda see why. She signed up for Cheerleading and refused to do it (albeit for a good reason). The rapist should have been punished more then he was, that is not in question. However, since she decided to be a Cheerleader (nobody was forcing her to be one) she has to abide by the team requirements. Its similar to a job. If you are required to do something and refuse to then you should expect to be reprimanded or fired (unless said required activity is, itself, illegal). Ask any police officer who has been working for more then a week what stupid laws he is forced to enforce. Most will take all day to list them.

This is just sick. Why would they even let a rapist on their team, anyway?

On a side note: I honestly want the southwest of the US to secede. Sure, we lose a few great states and cities, but we get rid of California and Texas.
What's wrong with California?

Anyway, that's total bullshit. That school needs to burn.
But Kentucky is useful for its whiskey...

Texas... fuck their cows...

She was cheering for the team, she refused to cheer for the individual.

And the school punished her for it, that being the problem here.

High school and college football. Holy piss, like I really had to specify.
You're from there. You already know what I was saying. You just wanted a buffer post.

Just be thankful we didn't have another "The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom" situation.
Wait... dang. I only remembered about a minute ago that THAT incident happened in Texas too. (To quote Friday Night Lights, "All there is to do in this town is sex and football. Good thing I like sex.")

I'm getting tired of people saying they're "losing faith in humanity." So many people say that and it's kinda lost all meaning.
However I do agree that this situation is severely fucked up. Not that I'm overly surprised, the guy was a star athlete, he could get away with murder or worse, as indeed he did.

Can anyone explain why playing sports is more important than upholding morals or taking care of a young lady's life? No matter how much I think about it, the story just doesn't make sense. No, not all Texans are evil, some are pretty cool.

Man, I do my best to spread the message of peace and love everywhere I can so people don't lose hope. But my influence can only go so far, and people like *these* make it very difficult.

Yes, all Texans are animals because one guy raped a cheerleader. So that would also make all Scotts raging alcoholics, all Germans beer guzzlers bent on blowing up France (again), all Africans AIDS ridden SPAM artists, and all Asians bike riding computer geniuses. Don't generalize man, it doesn't become you. Again, the problem is one asshole with entitlement issues, not the whole state.
