It is gonna be hard to try and take out North Korea, if you try to take them out, they could fire the Nukes, if you put them in a difficult position, they could fire the Nukes, dont take North Korea lightly, as long as they have Nukes, they are a major threat.
They have nukes, but they aren't very powerful and can't fit them to missiles. The best they could do would be to try smuggling one in on a ship and lighting it off. Not real likely.
If they threaten a country like the US, then they must have the ability to fire a Nuke at the US because if not, then why threaten the US if they cant attack them???
Because they're bluffing. A fledgling nuke program couldn't take out South Korea, much less the entire united states. They can launch regular ballistic missiles our way, but they'd never hit.
They threatened to wipe the US off the globe, saying stuff like that gets you invaded, no one makes a bluff like that unless they have a plan and remember the Cuban Missile Crisis??? Missiles can be put in range. It is time for the US to call North Korea's bluff.
No, threats like that don't get anything. Iran threatened Israel (and the United States) with the same thing. Israel has nukes. Iran doesn't. It was deluded sabre-rattling and empty threats then, just as this is now.

Also, like I said earlier, North Korea's nukes are TOO BIG to fit to a missile.
Ok then, do you know everything about North Korea plans and tactics, can you confirm that North Korea dont have the ability to Nuke the US??? North Korea is not Iran, they are unpredictable and secretive and I wouldn't put anything past them.
No, it's a matter of FACT. They haven't developed the technology to miniaturize their weapons sufficiently to fit them to a missile, first of all. Second of all, the missiles they do have don't have the range to hit the west coast of the United States. Third, their guidance systems are ancient, so even if they did have the range, they'd be just as likely to hit China as anything else.
I'm just gonna wait and see how this plays out because I dont think North Korea are bluffing and I think they have the ability to attack America, look it up on Google, North Korea are confident that they can attack the US.

North Korea is confident that they don't have a crippled economy of a third world nation with little electrical power. Doesn't make it true. And quite frankly, if Google is your source you're a little nutters.

Of course it doesn't make it true, but you cant be 100% that North Korea are bluffing, there is always a chance they aint. As I say, I hope North Korea get invaded and that Korea can finally be united as one.

I personally believe that North Korea will step down eventually. Every major world power has opposed North Korea's nuclear tests, and I believe N.K. will step down once the superpower's start baring their teeth.

On one hand, I'm slightly concerned. Not because I think NK could do any damage "close to home", but because if they really are stupid enough to try a missile launch it could start up another war, or conflict (w/e it'd be called).

And then I'm reminded of this article:

It is a big risk to put pressure on them, the more pressure your under, the more unpredictable you become, North Korea is no different.

To be honest, why are we AFRAID of ANY country, until they start marching on our soil then why should we care, we can make all the threats, my lollypop's bigger than yours!!
(oh Sorry how many countries have the US tried to occupy in the last decade?)

The fact is the US feel it necessary to instigate a world police policy to protect their "freedom" How far away is NK from the US? how many more Nucular aircraft carriers do the US have compared to NK? How much is the Annual Military budget for the US? FFS Keep you American Noses out of everyone's business stop being big fat (no offence) bullys. Its like the International Space Ranges from GTA4 TV all over again.

For those of you that haven't actually done time in the military and had access to classified documentation in regards to contingency plans IE: N. Korea Nuclear Scenarios, UN Report 1501...I'll be brief.

No nuclear provocation from non-NATO countries, will be responded to in similar or in kind, by any member of the UN without unanimous support from all UN member states.

Ergo, North Korea could smuggle a nuke in a cargo ship into the Seattle Harbor, blow a good chunk of that side of the city to hell, and no, we would not nuke North Korea in return.

There would, though, be a massive US Naval response in return, destroying pretty much the entire economic, military and technology infrastructure of the country, and then it would more than likely be invaded by a UN multi-national force with intentions of neutralizing the country as a further threat to world peace, and, largely, that would be the end of North Korea.

So while the general gist of the posts here are correct "ZOMG North Korea can't attack America" are fairly accurate, they're also inaccurate because North Korea CAN attack America and we've had contingency plans for just this scenario on file within the Department of Defense and with the United Nations since the early 1960s.

North Korea can attack the United States, not a "wipe them off the map" scale, but, they definitely could pull off their own little Pearl Harbor, of course, we all know what happened after Pearl Harbor.

Regardless of that, because of the US use of nuclear weapons at Nagasaki and Hiroshima, and the massive incendiary bomber runs which actually caused more deaths than the nukes, on Japan, after December 7th, 1941....the UN and the US did agree to terms of retaliation in the cases of non-NATO, and now, non-UN member states.

It would take a nuclear provocation on the scale of only countries like China and India and Russia could achieve, for the US to respond in kind with nuclear weapons.

The Escapist is...of course, media pop culture entertainment, but I highly recommend that anyone concerned with the issues we face in today's world find a DVD copy of The Fog of War, 11 Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara [http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video=50289].

Its an excellent documentary that can educate and inform people who slept through history class.

From what i've heard they aren't a threat to the US, due mainly to the size of their nukes (weaker than the hiroshima bomb)which can't fit on missiles, and their missiles can't even reach the US anyway.

But unless NK uses a nuke first the US probably wouldn't due to various war crime issues, in which case it would end up as a ground war in which case it could be equal considering the results of the vietnam war where thousands of US troops were killed and no clear victory (if a victory at all).
Hmm that is true but I have no idea what kinda weapons N.Korea so it might or it mightn't be btu I'm sure America learned from it's mistakes in those wars.
