The difficulty. Maybe i just suck at the game (which is most likely) but i found it was impossibly difficult until i could get 100 or so health potions. I had to change from normal to easy around two hours or so in (at the first ogre you fight in the tower) Dammit people.

that, and not being able to jump

Yeah, it did seem a little lifeless, never noticed till you mentioned it.

I didn't like the way no matter what you chose (in terms of who your guy/gal was) it only effected the start of the game. I know they couldn't create proper full stories for every combination but they could have done a little better.

If your not sure what I mean watch the ZP review and you will get it.

Orzammar and when you entered the Fade in the mage Circle...I haven't played DA:O through for a second time yet, but I won't be looking forward to those areas at all.

There's very little that I didn't like...Unlike Mass Effect 2, this was an RPG in every sense of the word. Not a third person shooter with nice conversations.

If I had to choose, it'd be the combat animations. All of the movement looks off and unnatural.

The entire combat system feels like walking on egg shells, and the Dalish Elves were a major disappointment in culture and character.

The Deep Roads level was just bad. I liked it towards the end, but the middle part was just horrid. It was like playing Mario, being told the Princess was in another castle, and then running the same world again.

I hated that I either had to have healing spells or cart around a crappy healer and hope for the best. That the default healer's personality was crap didn't help at all.

The dialog options were bad. There was no humor at all in them. I would see an option, obviously sarcastic to me, pick it, and suddenly everyone is offended because the hero is just that shallow.

`Stuff I felt should have been added or deleted

I would really liked to have had an apostate origin.

I thought the weight system was odd. Maybe I didn't know about it, but I wish they would have added the ability to store items at camp.

I would like to see more classes.

I wish the mage class in general wasn't so bland.

Archery needed more attention.

Morrigan. God damn, muther f'ing Morrigan. Nothing you do will ever please her.

You stop for 2 seconds to help an old lady with 1 leg and no home *morrigan disapproves*

You say hello to a passing stranger *morrigan disapproves*

You compromise to further your ultimate goal *morrigan disapproves*

You don't compromise and get others to go along with your plan *morrigan disapproves*

You do what ever the hell Morrigan tells you to *morrigan disapproves*

I eventually just quit taking her with me on quests altogether. She's one of the only 2 mages you get (so if you aren't playing mage for some strange reason, you're gimped). So I ended up without a DPS'er because Wynne was spec'd for healing. This made all of my battles really long.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

The ridiculous achievements that required that I beat the game at least 10 times before I can unlock them all... On the PC version at least. Other than that, it was a really good game, in my opinion.
The key there is to make good use of multiple save files. If you save before each of the major points, you should be able to limit full playthroughs quite a bit (Seems like at most 4).

For me, it was the Into the Fade quest. Very frustrating if you're a mage built specifically for a group support role.
It isn't those achievements, it's the ones you get for speccing an entire branch of your main character. In many branches, you only have enough talent points for one at a time, and seeing as there are around 12 branches in the entire game...
For console, yeah that sucks. For those of us with the PC version, there's a very well done mod on dragonagenexus.com called Character_Respec_Mod. I absolutely love it. Not just for achieves, but for rebalancing my group if I change it up.

She is unpleasable, no doubt. She is, however, balanced out by the abundance of special gifts that you can get for her throughout the game. You can also get atleast 50+ approval from Morrigan as soon as she joins your party from dialogue options alone. And if you're about to do something nice then just take her out of the party, do the good deed, then bring her back. It's kind of tedious but it means that everyone is happy.

Yea, recently rendered post apocalyptic cities have more life than many of the DAO cities. I think I would've liked it more if it was open world: sorry but sometimes I like to grind/explore a little.

Sometimes the dialogue went on for too long and it was all mostly predictable. With so much emphasis on story, you'd think they would want to make it interesting.

On the console at least: the soundtrack was broken with inappropriate music suddenly playing at all weird times.

Other than all that it is a very well made game but I'll probably wait to get the sequel.

I thought that it was REALLY difficult. I spent two hours on it, and I was playing on Normal!

Maybe it's because I played it on the console.
Either that, or I'm just terrible at it.
My entire team died and I solo'd it, but I was a very well tooled out shield and sword specced warrior...

OT: For me my main gripe with Dragon Age: Origins was the huge lack of any real character customization.
I know some people consider it quite robust, but for me, being able to cycle through three races, with about 10 hair styles and faces each isn't all that robust...

I would have liked a more defined character creation.

I mean it becomes painfully obvious that you'll bump into someone who looks like you eventually when all the main characters have the (arguably) decent hairstyles to choose from...
Lol, the very first time I ever played that game, the Grey Warden that ends up fighting at your side for the last big battle, you know
the one that ends up jumping onto the Arch Demon and slicing it's wing
looked like he could have been my characters father or older brother. It was uncanny. At first I thought that it was some genius thing decided by the developers and would hold some dort of revelation later on.... but no.... it was just a massive coincidence.

Boring. Ass. Combat. Seriously, its just one Tank n' Spank mob after another! I thought i was done with that shit when i quit WoW, but noooooooooo...

And I'm glad I'm not limited to one complaint becaue the game was too F**ing long! Okay, thats not really fair...its just that i had to spend 60 hours playing boring shit as noted above >_<. I prolly wouldn't have minded the length if the game had actual variety, but as it is, the length just compounded the bullshit.

Ironically enough, its not actually that bad of a game...although i do wish i could get my 60 hours and $50 back so i could spend both my time and my money on something worth while...

Took me 10 mins to figure out what I was supposed to do after the dragon flew off the first time. After I got that I wiped it and one shot it :p

OT: Yes I do agree that some of the people seem bland especially in camp. My other big complaint is the load times :p Especially pre 1.01 was it? Load times got progressively longer the longer you played. I think at one point I waited 25 mins for an area to load and decided to save and reboot the moment it loaded :p

Downloadable content that costs money. Stop nickle-dimeing me, game companies. I'm not falling for it.

And too much talky-talky. There's a reason no one reads quest text, and I certainly don't want to listen to it.
