Half Greek, Half Northern Irish, currently living in the hellhole that is Greece. We have.. nice statues... and scenery.. and a good deal of corruption, too!

A good bit of neo-nazis that are gaining ground because the majority of people here are retards and will find any reason to hate the immigrants, no matter how insane the reason.

Also, policemen that dress as hooligans so that their buddies get a justified reason to beat up people during protests.

So yeah, things are pretty jolly.
A good friend of mine is Greek, and in Greece's defense ,I think some of the people(the Roma) bring it upon themselves a little bit with how they hurt their children.

I too love the international interaction of the internet. As an Australian it provides me a good oppurtunity to warn people from other countries about the threat of Drop Bears, should they ever visit Australia.

In case you didn't know (though I find that hard to believe), Drop Bears are a species native to Australia that live in high brances of trees. They received their name due to their tendency to drop down from tree branches onto people loitering below, and hooking their claws into the skin at the back of their neck.

A picture of a typical Drop Bear, presumably taken before it murdered the camera man:

I'm British, but I have no sense of nationality or cultural inheritance. That said, I happen to appear very British due to my love of tea (earl grey of course), crumpets, top hats, bangers 'n' mash, fish 'n' chips, curry, sarcasm, and all those generic British things.

I love the mixing pot, it's funny to see regional rivalries that I didn't even know existed break out.

Unfortunately I have to be English, as neither 'The North' or Yorkshire are regarded as independent. We have to go with those no good, shandy drinking, bloody southerners, who apparently also hate pasties!

Nobody cares about the Roma anymore. It's the people from Pakistan and Afganistan that get the hate now. Same way the Albanians were getting blamed for being the reason that everything went to hell back when somebody that is currently running for Prime Minister(and has the highest chance at getting there) decided to open the borders and let everyone get in, unchecked.

Ah, ja.
I suppose it might be time to sail south and rape and pillage those English lasses again.

Australia. We don't have to shout that we're the best because we just know it to be true.

Mostly, anyway.
You're a troublemaker and you'll always be a troublemaker.

That is probably the best thing I've ever seen.

Anyway, back OT, I agree with the OP. I know people from dozens of countries, and what I've learned..... We are all pretty much exactly the same. What I mean by that is, if they hadn't told me, or I didn't already know they were from country "x" I would never have known that they were just from talking to them.

Damn, am I the only boring old German out here?

...and thus the only one who's had to deal with some really awful video game localisations ever?
Nope, you're not alone, we just have to gather all germans and march into this thread!
wait, that kinda doesn't sound right...

No, they're very real and very serious threat to the Australian ecosystem. They have no natural predators and have hunted many Australian species to near extinction. Also around 200-300 deaths (mostly tourists) are attributed to Drop Bears each year towards the east of Australia.

Keep this in mind if you ever have to visit Australia:

My country is great as I can use a few different names

British
Irish
Northern Irish

I always say I'm Irish while on holidays, people generally like the Irish more than they do the english.
You should learn to embrace the hate.

It's what made us strong :D
What a Heroic statement!

I agree, the hatred teeming towards us English people makes us far superior :3

OT: I like the escapist purely because I know who I'm talking to, fellow gamers! It doesn't really matter where anyone comes from since we are bound to get along with one another and have lots to talk about ;)

You best be sharing that tea, OP! :c

It doesn't matter to me where people are from, but if I take the time out to investigate, I find it truly amazing how we're all browsing the same forum.

It does make me wonder how life in other cultures/countries differs to life in the UK.

I always got the impression that the Escapist's British/European community was larger than any other national group here. Not that it really bothers me, it's just something I noticed.

I'm an American, myself. Atlanta, Georgia.

ah New Yorkers, the people even fellow Americans can't stand. lol
I thought that was always New Jersey-ans.
To the rest of us, you guys kind of bleed into one. Though I picture NYC as being more overly populated and full of cars honking and cockroaches in apartments. Though, perhaps Manhattan is a redeeming quality.
