But our sheep are better :)
I wouldn't know anything about that :D

While the Welsh were busy with their... interests, England was too busy building the largest empire the world has ever seen :D
and then loosing it
That was inevitable, if history has taught us anything, it's that empires always crumble.

Being able to survive the fall of your empire is as much a test of resolve as building it :D

I love that we poke fun at each other, I love that some escapists personify their country
I'll admit, I do somewhat fulfill the British stereotype of jaded cynicism and sarcastic wit.

That said, I can think of one Canadian on this website that goes in quite the opposite direction of his country's stereotype...

Aye, I live in Scotland.
Moray to be more specific.
Fochabers to be even more specific.
12 West Street to be the most specific I have ever been.

Drop by whenever you are in the area!

Canada! Neck-deep in everything American, we manage to avoid most of the bad stuff! And, here in Toronto at least, we're also neck-deep in a swathe of different cultures. And our history isn't that bad either - the last time the U.S. tried to invade (back when we were British), we burned down the White House (hope we've made up for that), and while we were pretty bad to the Native peoples, we were much better than the U.S.

Yeah, a lot of our national identity is measured in its relation to the U.S. There's also the British bit, but the British part of my identity I largely get from my mum's family (Scottish).

Also, that Scandanavia and the World comic thing looks fun, I'll check it out.
Gods damn it! I hate it when Canadians try to claim that. During the War of 1812, the Canadian militia did not burn down the White House. Washington was taken by a brigade under the command General Robert Ross, made up of veteran troops from Wellington's Army.

4th (King's Own) Regiment of Foot
21st (Royal North British Fusilier) Regiment of Foot
44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot
85th (Bucks Volunteers) Light Infantry
2nd Battalion, Royal Marines

All of those units were raised in the British Isles, not Canada!

Damn, am I the only boring old German out here?

...and thus the only one who's had to deal with some really awful video game localisations ever?
Nope, you're not alone, we just have to gather all germans and march into this thread!
wait, that kinda doesn't sound right...

and yeah, german localisations suck
We can't, we have run out of giant cats to name our tanks after. Also, yeah, I play most games on english, and I watch every english TV show in english, because they really can't transalte most of the jokes.

Also, yay internationality. We don't need to invade europe, we buy it.

my national identity is something you would call screwed up!

here's why: i am an ukrainian who lives in finland who has lived here for a good decade (since i was a kid) i speak fluent english and finnish, while my russian is declining, and i do not speak a word of ukrainian. i have grandparents(including a great grandmother who is still kicking) and obscure relatives in russia. my stepfather also happens to be an american(the educated type). and after all of that i still manage to consider myself a ukranian, and still mnage to squeeze russian and finnish into that hodge podge.

how bout that...

Well, I'm from Scotland (though my parents were English, and I have a really posh English accent, so I don't really fit in with my fellow Scots).

Uh, not much to say about Scotland, except don't get us confused with England, that could be dangerous for you. Also, don't call our kilts skirts (I mean, they totally are skirts, but most won't take kindly to you pointing that out).

Oh, and the kind of tartan you wear is apparently quite important? Something to do with clans or something.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of a shitty Scot.

Edit: Oh, and if you come to Scotland, expect to be handed a lot of alchohol (mainly whiskey) and some unspecified animal organs shoved in a bag, that's pretty much the national meal. Unless you go to Glasgow, where the national meal is heroin and for the after dinner entertainment some muggers will knife you.

You should learn to embrace the hate.

This made me laugh so much XD

Man I love playing to the British stereotype. There's one thing I'm most terribly ashamed about though . . . I don't drink tea! I don't dislike it, but It just tastes of nothing! *runs off and sobs in the corner out of self-loathing*

Erm, anyway, enough of that display of emotion

*Dons top hat & monocle*

Quite unbecoming of me.

*Sips tea*

German here. Jawohl!
Whenever we ran out of big Cats to name our Tanks after, we picked other Animals. To my Knowledge, the "Mouse" tank is the biggest tank ever build. Too heavy to cross Bridges and with a top speed of about 2 miles. Yay german Engineering!

We have some rather lacking Localization efforts, which is one Reason why so many Germans speak english. We're not super intelligent and learn another Language just for the shits and giggles. And if we did, we wouldn't be learning English because as a Language, its rather easy, straightforward and isn't a huge clusterfuck of a million rules that wont make Sense in a million Years.
One could be forgiven for thinking that Germans like their Language to be riddled with arbitrary BS.

I think that's one of the major characteristics that seperates us from the Americans.

I get the impression that America is trying very hard to make everyone love them, often failing in that regard, while Britian simply doesn't give a toss anymore.

Everyone hates us, and we hate everyone. And that's the way we like it :D
Or it's due to the fact that that last time anyone was scared of a British guy was 1776. I kid I kid. If it makes you feel better Americans make fun of other Americans more often than they make fun on anyone else. You ever heard the term Montana blonde? Well in Idaho that is what they call Sheep, I don't think I need to explain why.
