Disgaea 2: When your chasing Etna for a nail and realize there hasn't been one good grinding level so your 10 levels lower than everyone else. Except for Adell, but he doesn't count since the main character is ALWAYS OP'ed.
Eternal Sonata: That castle just after you get the archer chick and you find you're lost and low on healing items.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope: You realise there is just about no healing items and the first boss is kinda hard.

The NEVERHOOD (1996) mouse puzzle. I gave up on the game after this, and never finished it for 10 years! Now I can go finish it thanks to the help of FAQs and the brilliance of Youtube!

Most last bosses or last portions of the game are NEGATIVE TURNING POINTS, so I'll just list them: BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM, PROTOTYPE, and INDIGO PROPHECY.

That long, wow. I was already bored with the quests before getting out of Fyrestone. Quest 1: fetch quest. Quest 2: assassinate someone or a monster. Rest of the game... repeat 1 then 2 50 or 60 more times, turn borderlands into Lovecraft... the end. Only fun because it's the only fps with a splitscreen since Perfect Dark n64. Kept searching for that better gun in each category, never got a better one in each than the ones I had 1/2 way thru the 1st playthru. Really, no reward at all for finishing those later fetch quests? Thanks game.
You say that as if every RPG isn't like that.
Calling Borderlands an RPG makes me laugh. It's a FPS, that used a few clumsy elements to try and mask the fact that its just another FPS.

Hi I'm new. Now that I got that out of the way...

for me Bioshock's entire last bit (the fetch quests, escorting the Little Sister, and the boss) were not very good at all. The rest of the game is fantastic, but I was mostly annoyed by all the tedium that went into the final act of the game.

Also, Metroid Prime had that whole fetch quest that you had to complete before gaining access to the final boss that brought the game to a screeeeeeetching halt.

Oh and the triforce chart search in Wind Waker.

I've mentioned this moment in many threads but the absolute blue balls of an ending for Beyond Good & Evil kinda put a dampener on it. but then when the very end of a game is the negative turning point... well, you've got a great game

I've thought about restarting Disgaea 2 since my generic characters are at such low levels. The frustrating thing is that the game introduces better generic characters, thus making you feel as though you wasted time training the earlier, weaker ones. It reminds me of Pokemon a little bit.

It's only about three minutes, but I want to jump straight in - Metroid has never been about story. Other M doesn't count. Fusion made this mistake even worse, but I don't like it as much as Super Metroid.
Well, with the story line, and the opening tutorial, and the lack of ability to skip cutscenes, and my tendency (at least in KH) to find all treasures, it took a while... plus I HAD to beat Riku while I was there just for the skill point

as for BBS, you mean ventus or is Sora the secret character? lol

Borderlands. When I unlocked the second or third major region, and realized that the game was just going to be the same thing I had just done over and over again from that point onwards. I'm usually pretty tolerant of repetition, but goddamn.

Edit: just noticed the thread says "favourite" game, in which case disregard the preceding. Since I can't think of anything I hated in Abe's Exoddus or MediEvil, my answer is instead for a lower ranking favourite; Oblivion and either a) the fighters guild quest line which really didn't benefit my sneaky archer or b) the 60th (yes, I counted) time I had to go through an oblivion gate. I could navigate those recurring maps in my sleep.

No, I meant I'm tired of hearing side stories and want to finish the main one. For that matter, I've just grown out of any interest in the game, but I did play all the way through Ventus's story. You must have though I was confusing the two. I wasn't, I was just saying if they want to keep making these games then why the hell don't they make KH3 instead of spin-off 10 million?
Money my boy, money... BBS actually has some very relevant information, lotta background which I like, hopefully that will all be brought up in KH3, which had better be made soon, because for christ sake I'm gonna be a full adult soon and that means it's been like 10 years!

I did think it was a little daft at the end of Uncharted, with the crazy Nazi Gollums that appeared... Didn't really ruin the game for me all too much but I thought it was rather silly. Kind of knew to expect more mad shit from Uncharted 2 when that came out so that wasn't as much of a disappointment for me haha

I wonder what freaky bastards Drake will end up fighting in Uncharted 3...

Supreme Commander- when I realized how screwy the economics systems are.

Essentially there are two currencies- Mass and Power. Both are mainly created by setting up their respective production buildings. Unfortunately at the beginning of a match you can only build very cheap, very weak production structures which constantly produce a small amount of resource- any overflow of resource is instantly wasted if you don?t use it.

Attempting to construct the necessary military factories, defensive positions, upgrades and forces required to keep you alive in most missions will put a massive strain on your resources to the point where your economy freezes which once entered will literally take over half an hour just to get out of and start moving again. The only way around this is to build very slowly and know exactly what/how many/where you want each unit.

Once you get to the next tech level it ceases to be a problem and they did manage to fix the economic problem in the sequel at the expense of variation of units and a decent plot. I understand that using a fewer number of units you upgrade over time is a better tactical system than having to scrap your Tech 1 army once you reach the next stage but the whole thing seems too samey in SC2 as you just swamp your opponent with an armoured column of tanks which can attack anything.

Worth it and then some. The only bad part is the length, I finished it in around 5-7 hours, I don't remember the exact time. But if you consider that this is acceptable for most games nowadays, it is actually quite good for downloadable content. The dialogue and voice acting are just as good as in the original game, but the story is rather far-fetched. The quests are great, with the exception of the one Seth assigns you (clear out the graveyards), which is rather tedious, but only lasts about 10 minutes. The combat is even more fun than in the original, at least to me. There are tons of great cameos as well. Add in new multiplayer modes and you have a fantastic package. Not to mention the ending made me squeal out of happiness and joy.

Off the top of my head is Kingdom Hearts 1. Many of the people here were discussing the game earlier but when I started the Gummy Ship portion it was okay. However, after playing it a fourth time drove me crazy.

After that I found the game tedious which is too bad since so many people at the time recommended the game. Maybe I should give the second one a chance since I have heard it is a vast improvement.
