I dunno I quite liked him in Arkham City. Seemed like he was a kind of attention seeking serial killer you would get in a thriller or something.

It's most likely hinting at the DLC where Robin and Batman are going after Harley Quinn.

Who's now even more psychotic thanks to the death of Mr. J. and is also presumably pregnant.

I rarely shell out for DLC but this... This may be another exception

That's true, but the Joker is the iconic Batman villain. Even before the games or movies if you were to ask someone who was Batman's nemesis they would go with the Joker.

Honestly I'm not sure who would be best for a Big Bad spot, what with Joker dead, as well as Ras and Hugo. Then again I'm not all that familiar with the Batman franchise.
Ah yes, but as Batman said on Ra's "He'll need a Lazarus Pit".

He's immortal. He'll be back.

As I recall it, Batman and Freeze's alliance was temporary. As was his alliance with Bane. That offers some potential.

I thought that Ras wasn't dead? If you go back to where he lands after you've finished the game his body is missing isn't it?

And I know that he was dealt with by the Catwoman part (I haven't played it though), but I would love to see Two-Face used in the next Arkham game beyond "beat him up and then wander off".

Spoiler warning next time. Already beat the game, but still. Spoilers. Jesus.

Just because Joker's dead doesn't mean he's beaten. It's Joker versus The Devil in Hell...and frankly, I'm not betting on Old Scratch.

after the death of the Joker
Couldn't have just said "After the ending" huh? had to spoil it without warning for all of us who haven't got around to playing it yet.

OT: I'm more excited for a good superman game, although another Arkham game to add to my list would be nice.

next game could be set in Terror City aka Gotham during the venom infested bugs of Scarecrow, and bring back Batman's first villain Black Mask who escaped from Arkham City, also the stories from Batman Hush and Batman Sword of Azrael could take center stage is not like those stories aren't AMAZING. Hush is a genius and nearly kills Batman and he does manage to destroy Bruce Wayne publicly, and Azrael even became Batman for a while also since we're going to Gotham City the Court of Owls can easily make an appearance as main villains for the game

I mean you do realize Joker's been dead for years in the Batman comics right? Even in the new 52 Joker appeared in 1 issue got trapped in said issue and his face was cutoff by Dollmaker all in one issue. People got tired of the Joker and for good reason

Or go the Batman Beyond route.

Give me Arkham Planet or give me death!!!

And c'mon, you have to have the Joker.

You can't spell Mark Hamill without Arkham ;)
That made me laugh, then think, then laugh again.

OT: I'm not sure what they could do at this point. Another sandbox would be fun, but a bit pointless, but a more constricted game would probably strike a lot of people as a step backwards, for good or ill. I wouldn't mind an Infamous style sandbox that slowly opens more and more as you progress through the story, until you have the entire thing unlocked by the end and then once you're done you can free-roam around doing all your Bat-Stuff.

But then, if they do elect for a larger play-ground once more, they might hit the Mario Galaxy problem if they plan to do a sequel to that game... e.g. "Once you're in space, where do you have left to go?"

I'm rambling, without having any substance to really add.

Spoiler warning, dude. I already had the ending spoiled for me but many people probably haven't.
Yeah. Me.

What the hell, OP? Does it take that much brainpower to put "SPOILERS" in the title, or put some warnings in your post or something? Honestly.
I feel your pain sir someone ruined it for me a week after release and 3 hours before I finished it on this site. Should have a report spoiler button.

Arkham... Island?

I always wanted to see a good Batman game set in the Batman Beyond timeline, but it's nowhere near as popular as the original. Maybe just have a full-on Gotham City or better yet, No Man's Land so you don't have to render and program a hundred thousand civilian NPCs. Just the deserted chaotic city, and the warring gangs controlled by the arch-villains treating it as their sandbox playground when it's actually yours.

As for Joker, he's had plenty of convincing impersonators/copycats in his time, including a very memorable one in Beyond. A suitably talented impersonator can leave you wondering to the very end how in the world he's managed to come back to life.

It feels like they're courting the risk of sequel stagnation with this plan. All the things and dialogue that made the first two great and authentically Batman lose their impact when there's a new one out every year.

Since we seem to be forgoing spoilers, 'sit cool if I leave this unspoiled?

Two Face is still active after his scuffle with Catwoman. And with the rest of the gangs in disarray it seems Mr. Dent is in a prime position to usurp the majority of the power in Arkham City.

Add to that, Killer Croc is still around, and Scarecrow will probably return. And Hush appears in Arkham City but is never caught. And even the villains that aren't dead and just captured could easily break out.

Plus, who knows what new story elements will be revealed in the Harley Quinn DLC.

With all the potential villains that are still around I think they can work one more story out of the Arkham-Verse

I thought even Arkham City was a daring stretch for them to attempt to pull off after the first game. If they were really crazy enough to try it a third time; (and I think if they do; they should separate it from the Arkham series so the public would take it seriously) I think Prometheus might be a good idea for a big bad, though he hasn't yet found major status in Batman's villain gallery. This would be a chance for him to make his mark.

He's essentially Batman flipped on his head, and has been referenced in the background of both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

I'm still waiting for an apperance from the Clock King, you know? Don't care if he's just a cameo or does something similar to Calander Man in which he does something during a certian time.

First time I heard about this, it was supposed to be a prequel.

Which, really, just seems like a move that would be done only in the interest of perpetuating the Joker plot, since nobody likes using other Batman villains as the main antagonist.

I am pretty sure it will be about Scarecrow and will simply be set in Gotham City. This video is my reasoning. Scarecrow stuff is from 2:40-9:05

I also have to mention that I am super pumped for the "Harley Quinn's Revenge" DLC that has been announced and will release in a few weeks.
