Torchwood: Miracle Day begins in June

Oh I just wikipedia'd it and now I'm torn. On the one hand it has Russell T Davies, is a continuation and has all the original cast and on the other it is a continuation when they had ended it nicely and this quote worries me: "The second executive producer, Julie Gardner, described the new series as being "absolutely rebooted to welcome in a new audience".

To the Americans out there: I love you I really do but I hate Americanization of our shows. Incoming generalisations:
1) Too many ad breaks
2) Humour is hit you over the head with a mallet obvious rather than subtle
3) Things are often spelt out rather than visible on thinking about it or open to interpretation
4) You have some weird hangups about sex and nudity

I really hope Series 6 and the new TW are made for the UK first and US second. As in don't ruin it by changing it for American audiences specifically! I even have American friends who admit that US ports of UK shows usually end up terrible!

I've never seen an episode but I've been considering it. The whole 40(50?) years of canon thing has been keeping me out.

New series you say? Will I need to have seen the rest to enjoy it?

If you only want to have to watch 1 series to catch up, you can start with Matt Smiths Doctor and not get lost in continuity. While you could start by just watching tonights episode, you would miss a lot of the relationship building between the 3 leads.

Personally, I'm hyped. I've been avoiding every single spoiler I can as Dr Who is the on TV program I sit down and watch and I even have my own rituals for when there's a new series starting (or christmas special). I love it because they never try and take themselves too seriously. Everyone involved knows they are making entertainment instead of high art and work accodingly.

Huge fan of Doctor Who between the years of 1963-69. There were a number of good episodes/narratives during the 70's. I've been meaning to watch the 2005 reboot and see if it is worth catching up on or not.

Sorry, but I really like Amy. Partly because its nice that we have a companion who isn't in love with the Doctor (which is why Donna was the best so far) and partly because she and Rory have some chemistry and work really well.

Agreed, I'm glad they nipped that plot in the butt halfway through series 5!

I did like it, up until Moffat took over, which on the whole was a huge disappointment for me. Matt Smith is doing fine mind you(IMO), it's just I found the writing to be boring and complex just for the sake of complexity.

In short, I won't be watching Doctor Who anymore until either Smith or Moffat leave. *shrug*
