True, but I still enjoyed what I played and saw out of Eat Lead. It was unpolished, but I'm a nominal PC gamer. I'm used to enjoying what I get out of unpolished, buggy imports from Germany. The Duke Nukem series has always contained some element of self parody, besides perhaps the first.Namewithheld said:If they're going for self aware parody, I think it was already made and it was called Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.
And THAT game had Neil Patric Harris AND you got to shoot the shit out of a emo-git FF7 stype JRPG protagonist.
Eat Lead wasn't well made, and couldn't really pull off a parody of a big budget game succesfully because it wasn't big budget. Sadly, where indie movies can be clever parodies with low budgets (through the use of cinematography, style, good writing and decent acting) videogames require solid game mechanics as well as these things. Eat Lead lacked polish.
Regerating health isn't all that bad in and of itself, only what it often leads to, which is boring cover based combat.Cynical skeptic said:I think I saw health regenerate. I am suddenly not interested.
