the gameplay looks ok, i guess, but is it just me, or this entire video has a very juvenile feeling to it?
Are you kidding? This is Duke Nukem we're talking about here. It's supposed to be juvenile.

Although I loved the interactivity with objects( Something I miss now that Timesplitters is gone) I can't help but feel it's going to be fairly generic in terms of gameplay etc.

"Hey long awaited demo, I'm real happy for you, and Ima let you finish, but Duke Nukem Forever had one of the longest development periods of all time!"

Pitchford in a nutshell. Christ, he was annoying.

If they're going for self aware parody, I think it was already made and it was called Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.

And THAT game had Neil Patric Harris AND you got to shoot the shit out of a emo-git FF7 stype JRPG protagonist.
They're clearly going for self parody, they just broke the bloody fourth wall. Not to mention the conversation with the security guards. The Duke Nukem series has always contained some element of self parody, besides perhaps the first.

Eat Lead wasn't well made, and couldn't really pull off a parody of a big budget game succesfully because it wasn't big budget. Sadly, where indie movies can be clever parodies with low budgets (through the use of cinematography, style, good writing and decent acting) videogames require solid game mechanics as well as these things. Eat Lead lacked polish.
True, but I still enjoyed what I played and saw out of Eat Lead. It was unpolished, but I'm a nominal PC gamer. I'm used to enjoying what I get out of unpolished, buggy imports from Germany. Like Gothic!

Ehhhh, I think I'll pass.

I never played any Duke Nukem games, mostly because I was a bit young at the time (My slightly younger sister is the same age as the development time of DNF). Honestly, I don't really find the humor in the video to be that funny, nor the gameplay that exciting.

I mean, great, I get to watch some guy pee for 30 seconds... that's.... great? I know the whole point of DN is to be "silly" funny, which I usually enjoy, but just not here.

Actually, the entire game just seems to be an "adult" version of Ratchet and Clank, the combat especially which looked like the entire game is strafing and holding down the shoot button.

Heh.. yeah, this is about right. Considering back then, gameplay was limited to just running and gunning, really. I guess when it comes down to it, these days, everyone wants to put everything into a game.

For now, I'll be glad for something of a 'classic shooter' as it were.

Apart from some dick jokes, was there anything here to write home about? I know some of the posters here actually ARE thirteen years old, but if you're not, I don't see anything worth buying here.

That man doesn't understand nerds at all!
As far as the game goes, it actually looked like it would be fun to play.

Eh, not a huge fan of the look of it. Of course I missed most of the series, the only one I played was the original in 2d which is really what I was hoping for here. So meh just another shooter yippee. Ah well I'm guessing I'm not the target market any ways.

I think I saw health regenerate. I am suddenly not interested.
Regerating health isn't all that bad in and of itself, only what it often leads to, which is boring cover based combat.

It should also be noted that the label on it is "Ego" as opposed to "Health", so it wouldn't surprise me if it only regenerated while actually killing things, or special events like field goaling a giant monster eyeball as a sort of out of combat med-pack.

Thus, you wouldn't have the 'Shoot, hide, regenerate, repeat' cycle going on.

Additionally, the slow moving projectiles, relatively empty combat zone, explosive payloads, and presumably unstoppable ground attack make cover based shooting look a lot less attractive than actually weaving between the shots.
