New Duke Nukem Footage Surfaces, Blows Stuff Up

Love the new twists they put on the big boss, but no jetpack made me sad. Guess they are saving that for us to savour in person. Gearbox is in my big book of awesome. Hopefully it stays there.

Ironically enough, this may very well have more the mature crowd drawn to it since it isn't meant to be taken seriously, unlike the 12+/-yo demographic drawn to a serious game like Call of Duty.

Never played a Duke Nukem game, but always wanted to. This looks like a good introduction to the series. Course, I might try that $3 offer that you mentioned:

This 11 year wait was all a big marketing scheme! i bet you any money that you can find more duke related posts and the like on the web than about racism/diccks and CP put together.
I'd be surprised if DN: forever didn't outsell even SC II at launch

This is pretty much what you get from most mainstream titles anyway, bad company 2 etc. at least this one seems to have some fucking humour about itself.

This is EXACTLY the kkind of game i want! No gritty realism . Grab gun, shoot aliens and bigger is better is something i want - I want to relax playing a shooter and blow off steam and not cower in a corner till my legs grow back jsut to look for another corner 20 seconds later after my hyperbalillionth triple amputation by an enemy sniper 3 miles away.
I just hope the game will still have medpacks and +1hp drinking and +10 hp pissing

Also i think Duke 3D was the first FPS to experiment with interacting with objects (the billards table comes to mind)

Seriously, it's EXACTLY the same. Not very eventful first part. Penis drawn on board. Soldiers. "Steve you suck". Kill giant cyclops. Field goal his eye. "Out of the game" scene. "After 12 years, it better fucking be".

Nah it's pretty Juvenile.. the Whiteboard gag was kind of funny though. We'll just have to see if they don't hit the blowjobs thing too hard.

Agreed, and i dont really see how this makes people think the game is 'manly', unless manliness has been redefined as 15year oldliness, that and the combat looked terrible all you do is strafe and hold down shoot, its not an ode to the former gloy of the over the top shooter its just tedious, i agree that shooters might be stuck in a rut of two-weapon only no-health-bar-for-you 'realism' (you can't see ur feet and regain health too quickly and limp and fall all over the place when shot in the leg, so arguable not that realistic) but there are ways pay homage to that feeling of play without merely copying it, you have to adapt the mechanics beyond what they were 12 years ago that seems a reasonable goal

It's kind of pretty, but aside from the sense of humor (for better or worse, depending on your point of view) I can't say I'm seeing a whole lot to distinguish this from any of a number of FPSs. Maybe when they start showing off a few more of the vaunted interactive sections aside from the ability to draw on a whiteboard.

And for a game that's supposed to be all about action, the MC sure was cutting away a lot.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to play the original Duke Nukem 3D you can get it at Good Old Games on the cheap.

As has been discussed demonstrated on Alien Swarm many times, by the freaks of the TF2 group, if you give the players a light-pen, they're going to draw boobs and dicks.

Some slight alterations... and I regret nothing I drew in that game.

OT: Looks pretty good actually. Still skeptical about it, but more interested than I was.
