Wow, that is a rather bad name. At least it is not named "The Dark Knight Strikes Again." *shudders* Personally, I would like to see Mr. Freeze. He has always been one of my favs...

I like how he decided to say something along the lines of "Fuck 3D."

As for who the Villain is I am guessing it's going to Be Talia Al Ghul and Catwoman.

If it's been named, it should be out soon, yes? Hopefully it'll be out 2012ish.

If we're not getting the Riddler, could we get Harley Quinn? Played by Kristen Bell? That'd be awesome.

Or the one who was a doctor who grew up with Wayne and turned evil. I think he killed his parents (or they just got murdered) Can't remember his name though. Kinda like an evil Batman.

Also, am I right in thinking Nolan's looking for a Catwoman?

I am dissapoint. Title is stupid. "The Goddamn Batman" would be better. Or more seriously, something with "Batman" in it. "Knightfall" could have been good, although the fall theme was in "The Dark Knight." Like someone said though, "rise" is just a generic word added to the end of titles to make things sound cool. There are just so many options for cooler titles.

More importantly, I wanted the Riddler. I had hoped Nolan would redeem him from what Jim Carey did to him, but nope. Oh well. I just hope its someone not in the original movies. Get some freshness.

Can't wait!

Will the guy who directed Dark Knight be directing this too?

my money says Penguin will be our villain in the next movie since he operates as a generic mafia lord with kick ass umbrellas and bird related crimes. Who knows, we could end up with an awesome Hitchcock homage by having him as our villain.
I dig it, if we arent getting the Riddler (though who knows, maybe Nolan just wants to screw with our heads) Penguin would be the best choice. He'd fit into the "realistic" Batman, hes not too far fetched if you take away his supernaturalness, and hes really the best choice to give the fans a good movie. Now yeah, Nolan is an awesome director and can suprise even someone like me who is hard to please. But to be honest Im expecting more then just going back to a "mafia only and ninja intervention" like Batman Begins. We will just have to wait and see.

I want Bane in it.. but not the plant villian thingy, posion ivy is it? Bah!
Poison Ivy was ok.
My guess for the new Villain is Either Cat Woman (I know she was a Villain in the old TV series)
Or more likely The Penguin...He'd be pretty good I think

Other than that I don't know many Batman Villains worth their salt....Seeing that Joker is out of the picture

I have always maintained that there should be no problem representing Batman as he is in the comic books, especially in regards to being Bruce Wayne. If the movie makers read The Long Halloween and Dark Victory then they would have all they ever needed to know about Bruce Wayne being Batman. Conflicted, torn between his duty to the people in his life (Selina Kyle and Dick Grayson) and his mad quest for vengeance. It make him more relatable because he has the balancing aspects trying to make him act more like a rational human, which then gets overtaken later as those around him are revealed as costumes as well.

Is that so hard?

Personally I think Keaton pulled it off magnificently. The scene in batman Returns where he and Selina Kyle are both late for engagements as Batman and Catwoman, and both have to run off in the middle of a date, or when they realise who the other is in Shreck's ball. Those are the scenes we need, Bruce struggling to maintain his front and his sanity. Not Bale's 'Wayne is overacting as people expect him to be.' Bruce Wayne is not a dandy-playboy fop in the comics or other movies, so seeing the character of Wayne being diminished has always been a point of contention for me.

Robin from Teen Titans was a very good character. My interests have always been more to the comic books, and the entire Teen Titans show could almost fit directly into canon as the time when Robin became Nightwing. (Almost) But yeah, Robin, if handled well, is not just a sidekick hanger-on.

I think Grant Morrison proved that the Silver-Age can be included and actually make a story scarier for it having happened, rather than diminishing the effect, but I know Nolan wouldn't try for that. In regards to Superman, I think the most important question has already been asked in the comic books: 'What's so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?' They've already written one of the best Superman stories ever as a direct attack on people trying to make him darker and edgier. Superman shouldn't be goofy, but that doesn't mean he must be a bitter anti-social loner? But yeah, this discussion is getting too much into Superman now.

Batman needs a balancing act of villains and support characters who complement him, and where the Joker is the perfect complement of Batman's order vs Chaos, the Riddler is the perfect challenger of wits and intelligence. There are few other villains who match him quite so siginificantly. (Hush being the dark version of Bruce Wayne, Prometheus being the dark version of Batman, and Two-Face being the representation of the duality of the souls.)

Bear in mind that just because Nolan says the Riddler won't be in it, doesn't mean that the Riddler won't be in it. Can you think of a character better suited to a double-bluff than the Riddler?

I don't care for the name and the movie itself isn't sounding like it will be all that good.
No more Joker which means No Harley Quinn :(
No Robin or any other sidekicks (which sucks because Kick-Ass showed that a kid sidekick can be done right)
No Freeze or any other "unrealistic" villeins
and now No Riddler Fuck!!!

so what now make a movie with Catwoman as the villein? how the hell would that work?

I'm putting money down on Mr Freeze. I don't know how they'll pull it off, but if they're successful it will be great.

I know I'm the minority on this one, but I much preferred Batman Begins to the Dark Knight. Batman Begins felt like a comic book movie rather than a movie that happened to have Batman in it rather than some other detective with a gravelly voice. The realistic Batman also eliminates some of the more interesting villains like Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, and Bane. Maybe they could do Poisen Ivy, The penguin (Anthony Hopkins would be great) or Zasz.

I hope the bad guy is scarecrow...again. Batman is batman because of fear, so scarecrow would be awesome as a single villain, right? I felt like I was cheated when he was tazed in the face in BB and when he was captured in TDK, so I think a bigger role for him would be great. This is coming from someone who has never read a single batman comic, so I honestly don't know.

Well, I hope he trips and smashes his head and comes to the realization that Riddler is the best villain he could use. Otherwise I wont be seeing the movie.

I was expecting the movie to be called The Caped Crusader, at least that would've had a double-meaning. As far as I can tell there's no punny meaning to this one other than The Dark Knight/The Dark Night. Also, I really wanna see Penguin as the villain (though Riddler would've been better imo) or The League of Shadows from Batman Begins. Anyone else wanna see Paul Giamati as The Penguin?
