well, full specs are not out yet, battery life is 3 to 6 hour, which is reasonable, par with ps vita and 3ds. the presentation was ok. but sure if you watch it just to find reason to hate the console, you will think it's bad.

as for aaa game, i dont know, are ea fifa and nba2k18 are view as aaa ? skyrim ? i know it an old game but... i guess it's a little soon to judge. let see if more game are annonced in the next weeks...

Calm your tits, man. They showed off at least six or seven new games, including Super Mario Odyssey, and are still releasing new trailers for other new games post-stream. As for the hardware, they haven't actually said that much about it. But what's worth mentioning is that while the system is pretty comparatively cheap, the PS4 and the Xbox One are over three years old. Besides, if it can run Skyrim SE it's at least as powerful as an Xbox One.

I'm iffy on the whole paid subscription thing, but you do get free NES and SNES games each month, so that's something. Finally, given the size and supposed resolution of the screen, I'm impressed they got as much battery life out of it as they did. 3-6 hours is actually pretty good for a dedicated games machine.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahahahah. Oh boy, DOA my ass. I saw plenty of new games like a new SMT game, Arms, Project Octopath Traveler, Dragon quest X and XI, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, etc etc.

Sony and Microsoft have been doing paid services for a while (Though Sony only made it important and required for multiplayer with the PS4), so why is this a surprise to you? Prices for it haven't been released yet either, and they said they're gonna make the service free until Fall. That's a hell of a lot more than Sony or Microsoft have done.

Nintendo systems have not often been more powerful than the competition in recent years, and with a handheld system like this, it's a bit of a stretch to expect it'll be MORE powerful than a full size console. On par, maybe. Slightly less powerful? Makes sense.

The battery life I feel could be better, but considering what this thing is capable of, I guess it's fair. So no, DOA I wouldn't say is quite accurate. Not to your tastes? Maybe a bit more accurate. But man, I'm sure you hated the Switch before anything was even shown, even when it was called the NX and we knew nothing

Because they don't care.

Seriously, Nintendo's never played the power game, and if I recall correctly, none of their consoles or handhelds ever beat out their competitors in that realm.

Nintendo doesn't care about power.

The Switch is finally dumping proprietary charging cables, meaning those portable batteries everyone bought for Pokemon Go or their smartphones can extend the battery life of the screen, and the Switch is finally going region free. So those folks who get their underwear in a twist about localizations can just import.

And as far as "no games, just rehashes"? Are full on sequels rehashes now? Is that where we're going with this? Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quests 10 and 11, Nobunaga's Ambition, Project Octopath Traveler (need to workshop that name, yeesh), and (while a bit niche), new Warriors games, which are totally my jam.

And hell, my friends are the sort of lovable idiots that could probably shoot through an evening of getting smashed playing Arms of all things. Nothing like getting hammered and throwing punches at each other.

They actually wouldn't be singing it from the rooftops. That's what other game companies do to cover for their shortcomings. Nintendo marches to the beat of their own drum.

As far as specs go, no, they didn't say anything. But people here need to be reminded that the only consumers who care about specs are pc oriented people. The average consumer doesn't give a rat's butt about the specs.

That being said, I'm sure the specs will get confirmed soon anyway.

Why does it have to be more powerful?

I find it refreshing that someone is getting out of that most powerful cycle and doing something different.

I actually think it'll do fairly well. Maybe not Wii well, but well enough.

What exactly are your expectations in terms of sales OP.
I'd say that it should sell somewhere between 8-10 million in 2017 with about one third of those sales coming from Japan.
Also don't be surprised by price drop or bundling of Splatoon in the summer.
They might be releasing this in March but realistically the Switch will take off after Splatoon 2 is released during summer vacation(talking specifically about Nintendo's largest market Japan).

So....after zelda and mario release what next?? Another mario and zelda two years later?

I'm sorry but I fail to understand how anyone can defend nintendo at this point they appear to have learnt nothing from the wiiu If anything it's worse this than that. Why do they continue to misread the market and chase a casual audience that doesn't exist anymore.

Oh and as for the whole 'it's OK if Sony Microsoft to charge for online. ' they are established good service providing free games, some aaa and not one thirty year old 8-16 bit game a month.

Nintendo appear to have learned from the Wii U in that the hardware makes sense, it has a good launch line up, and is a handheld, which is their most popular market. It may be a somewhat niche item, but unlike the unfortunate Vita, it looks like it will be a stable niche item that can maintain an audience. I don't care about paying for online if they make it worthwhile, and since Monster Hunter XX is on the horizon, it will likely be very much worth the cost.

Worth noting that so far the launch lineup has 2 games confirmed. Zelda and 1,2 Switch. That's it. Everything else is post-launch unless something changes.

Plus, the rumored Pokemon Star, and I think you can safely bet on a new Monster Hunter.

I have been one of the people saying that the Switch will be successful and people are under valuing the mainstream appeal. But I can't say that after last night. Nintendo has been a niche product since the SNES days in the home console market.

I think paid online will hurt them because they haven't done it before. Their games lineup appeals to me but I can acknowledge Xenoblade, SMT, Disgaea, and DQ are niche. And half those games are available on other platforms.

But the biggest killer is price. At $300 I went from a possible day one purchase to "I will wait until Black Friday or a price drop." If Nintendo comes down on pricing that may help but right now it's over priced.
