So, from watching the announcements and followups, articles, and interviews, I don't know exactly what to think, mixed feelings would be the best way to describe it.
A kind of lackluster launch lineup, that's normal for consoles, but the tiny number is a bit concerning.
Battery life is kind of as good as you would expect for a console like that, not really great for a truly mobile use though, gonna have to bring battery backups if you want to bring the thing on a long plane flight
The storage capacity sounds like an inconvenience at best, or a disaster at worst. I am already running into issues with filling up my 1 Tb harddrive on my PS4 and Xbox, the Switch having a 32 gig storage capacity isn't even enough to store some single games today, I guess we can upgrade with micro SD cards, but that still puts you at around 200-250 gigs max storage, and that's going to run you an extra 100-200 dollars on top of what you are paying for the console. There's 500 gig micro SD cards coming out in June or July, but the companies are stating those are launching at around $1000, so yeah, fuck that, I'm not paying $1000 for half the storage capacity of my current consoles. Micro SD cards are also inferior to regular harddrives for load speeds, and tend to break down sooner in my experience, they develop write errors a lot faster than a mechanical harddrive or scaled up SSD. So it seems to heavily encourage buying physical copies of everything rather than utilizing a digital library, unless they launch one hell of a cloud system with their online service.
The paid online is a pain in the ass, I already pass Xbox gold and just stick with PS+ for my online console needs, their service sounds questionable at best, only getting bonus games for one month rather than getting them for free like PS+, even then it sounds like old NES and SNES games I've likely already played. There's also the report that their voice chat is a friggin phone app, so not even native to the console itself. I would imagine it synchs with the console through bluetooth or something so you can get the game audio too, if not then its officially worthless and makes me want to pay for online services through them even less.
Lastly, before this gets too long, the price of accessories, the lan stuff is cool with multiple consoles, but the controllers are friggen expensive, the pro controller costing more than the regular controllers for the other consoles. an extra docking station is $90.
Overall, I really don't see this being the next Wii, sales and popularity wise, maybe not DOA, but I will honestly be surprised if the console beats the sales of the WiiU by any significant margin.
