I don't suppose listing the buckets of games on the VC is going to change any of this, is it?
There, there. The silly people who complained about the GC don't seem to realise that they can buy the best hits of that console for <£10 and play them on their 'paperweight'. Of course, those who have played those games and don't feel like being taken back to the past, fair enough. Nostalisia? Hell, this *newbie* enjoys them. Also, budget gaming! Pay <£4 for excellent retro games! All you need is a GC controller. Excellent for the piss poor 'core' gamer.

You made me cry tears of joy. Thank you, messenger of god. Wait, Could you offer some outside word of this? I know of the DS one, but... really. Messing with me like this is cruel.

I've got VC games and gamecube games for my Wii. The wii is my first non-pc console, so I got it for it's backward compatibility after a friend introduced me to some N64 ROMs, so I'm keen to collect everything I can on VC, including the games I played for free. (Can't wait to get a hold of one of those Zelda 64 > GC compilation disks. Made of awesome.) Metroid Prime series? Can't wait till I finish it. Another Wii Zelda will be fantastic. Madworld? Droolin' over it. Punch out? Excellent, a boxing game that isn't embedded in Wii Sports. (stupid thing caps at 2000 score and starts to give negative once you reach 2000...) Next 2000 points (+300) will be spent on a N64 game ( possibly StarFox Lylat Wars, Super Metroid and Super Mario 3, which I still need to play. (more Off topic, if anyone would care to suggest a good N64 game that isn't Lylat Wars, (or Oot, which I plan to get on GC so I can get something useful out of the stone of agony along with the unconfirmed MM).
Yes, Chinatown Wars is on the DS. Here's Wii GTA info/rumors:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169773
http://www.wiiwii.tv/2009/01/14/rumour-gta-tokyo-to-appear-on-wii-in-2009/
http://www.gwn.com/news/story.php/id/11802/Nintendo_Pushing_For_GTA_On_Wii.html

And more if you mess with Google. I can't find the interview from last year about gta and how if people buy it, they'll make more, but I know for a solid fact I've read it. It's probably in correlation with Chinatown Wars.

If you haven't yet, collect Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia from the Gamecube, then grab ToS2 for the Wii.

Edit - Pardon, the 'for the Wii in march' comment was for the ds. I was in a rush while making the post. But there is heaps of talk about GTA for the Wii in 2009.

No I did not buy the wrong machine, I bought it because I liked Nintendo, I do not look at review scores as the reviewers do not know my likes or dislikes, just a belief in what the generic gamer would like. My taste's are only narrowed because Nintenodo keeps trying to shove gimmicky shit down my throat, hardcore could not mean necessarily mature, just a more indepth expeirce which many games on the nintendo wii lack.
If you love Nintendo so much, then take a closer look at its lineup of games instead of sitting back and complaining about how there aren't any that you like. Going to the local video rental store does not count. If you look at a game titled, "Bikini Zombie Slayers" and say to yourself, "No, it's not hardcore nor cool." there is something terribly wrong with you.

If you buy great third party games such as No More Heroes, Fire Emblem, Ghost Squad, the releases coming this February and March, as well as other games listed in this thread (and others on this forum; I've made a few large Wii game posts myself in other complaint threads since I own about twenty of them), then that will support the community of game makers into making more of those great games. If you don't and instead sit about saying how no such games exist with others, then your wish will be granted: no such games will exist.

There is a GTA game for the Wii in March. Rockstar Games stated in an interview that, should enough people buy it and support 'more mature games', they will make many more where that came from.
Yeah... that's on the DS. Edit: Whoops, I guess you corrected yourself. Anyway, I agree with you. I've found a number of games that are fun on te Wii, not just two. You need to be willing to go outside Nintendo IPs to really enjoy the system.

I have the dust magnet you call a Wii, and as you can tell I am very disappointed with it.

I don't know why, but every game I get for it I drop completely in a week or two. It happened with every single game I got for it, it even happened to god damn Okami! Okami! A fucking beautiful game and a unique experience in its own!

It's not so much as there arn't any "hardcore" games coming out for it, it's just that none of those games really interest me. I have no clue why my friend is going crazy for Sin and Punishment 2 (I know he didn't even play the first one), NMH2 seems awesome but I never got around to getting the first one so most likely it will pass over, Punch Out I have no interest in, ect...

The Conduit looks like the only one that interests me, and that's a god damn FPS for Christ sake!

And maybe Madworld, but it pisses me off so much that the only reason why I'm possibly interested in it is because of the blood and gore. It seems that if the crazy ultra violent games are for the Wii because it's perceived as a children's toy (NMH and Madworld) and the developers want to "Prove that the Wii isn't just for kids!" and all that crap. That's really the only reason why it's crazilly overlly violent, and i'm not sure if I care about it or not.

People who are disappointed with the Wii completely miss the point.

Play on a PC if you want really awesome games. Play on a Wii if you want really awesome times with friends and alcohol.
fair enough

Yesterday I learned that the city next to mine had a weekly Wii workshop for senior citizens and my thoughts were "Yeah that's nice, but what about my needs :|"

I have a Wii, and it was fun for a while. It's just that there's not much out there to play. Brawl would have a much longer life if the online wasn't so crappy. I have Guitar Hero, but I feel like GH3 was more fun (and GH:WT is lacking in the DLC department). Metroid Prime and Okami were awesome, but I loaned them to my cousin for a while, so replays are out of the question. I really want to play Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes and the Fire Emblem games, but I don't exactly have a big expendable income. And I really wish Paper Mario was an RPG like the last ones. I feel like it would be more fun that way. (on that note, I should look for the original 2 on the Cube)
Please come out with No More Heroes 2, Okami 2, and Pikmin 3 soon. The next Metroid wouldn't be too bad either. I actually followed the implicit backstories in the Prime games, and I don't usually do that (other games don't do it well or the stories aren't worth my attention)

So the only reason to buy the Wii is for inebriated adventures?

Not that I'm suggesting your wrong, just that $250 for a machine that makes for a good time while drunk is a bit much. Especially considering that pretty much ANYTHING can be a good time when your drunk.

I still keep faith in Nintendo, even though I have had a Wii for a year and only own 3 games. I have high hopes for a few games though: The Conduit, Muramasa:the demon blade, TMNT (working title on a much darker Turtles game), and a few others I can't name off the top of my head.
The big problem is that Nintendo doesn't like to follow the crowd. They released the Wii as an experiment (which really isn't a problem with Sony and Microsoft racing to rip each other the most). The motion controls are fine, Nintendo just has to release some high quality First-Party games for the Hardcore gaming crowd. They also need to stop releasing third party shit and make the Wii more exclusive and less of a showy whore.

Nintendo has been unusually stupid with the Wii, but we do have a FEW good games. Just to name two:
Zack & Wiki
No More Heroes
Wait, both of those games are third-party games. Damn, Nintendo sucks lately. I'd get a 360, but there aren't any games I'd want for that thing that don't already have a PC version. And a PS3 is moot since I'm perfectly fine with my PS2.
Ah, hell, I'll just play my Ds for now and wait for Nintendo to come to its senses.

How much do you spend on Karaoke?
Last time I went around $12 for 3-4 hours. Don't see what that has to do with the Wii though.

Look Mr.Dingo, we all know your prefered next gen consol of choice is the PS3, but just because it's your favorite dosen't mean it has to be everybodys. Let eveyone have there own opinion.

Anyways, on topic. As for the wii, and to a lesser extent the DS, seem 95% or games on them are either made to use its gimmiks, or the gimmiks are shoehorned in. either way i almost always steer clear from those games. Cept Meteos, that games awsome.
