"No! Don't get the flag!" But, that's the objective, "NOOOOO!"

I like it in TF2 when nobody tries to capture the flag, and 2Fort becomes a team deathmatch.
I have to disagree, the best matches are when you get a team of Engies camping in the other team's base. That's when the fun starts.

Grr, I hate it so much when im playing a game like MW2, trying to do what the objective of the game is. When all of a sudden im told not to.

It just happened to me, I was playing...MW2 and I was just about to set a charge on an objective (I was playing demolition)when all of a sudden some little kid, id say 11, maybe 12, screams into the mic , "NOOOOOOOOO!" in a manner that would make Darth Vader jealous. Next thing he says is, "Don't plant the bomb you idiot! Im trying to get a nuke!"
...
WHAT!
You have got to be kidding me! Just because you want a kill streak, doesn't mean im going to stop from doing what we are instructed to do! Then, some one probably 18 yells out, "Hey jackass, your such a noob for planting the damn bomb!" Followed up by the kid saying, "Yeah! You should go kill yourself!"
The irony here is that I won us the game by just one second.

So, has this ever happened to you on, well, any game that has multiplayer? Where your trying to so what the task says, then someone else tells you not to?
Sometimes the people telling you "no" are right, just not in this case, but when they say let them have one flag in dom. thats just strategic, because you know where they spawn and then you can stop them

Thats because DICE was smart enough to not include any specific multiplayer achievements.
Only things like "blow up 1000 walls" and "kill 5 people with every pistol" and a few more for ranking up and getting ribbons.

Although lots of people seem to like sniping on offence on Rush.

You can't win the game if you sit on your asses sniping all the time
HERE, FUCKING HERE!!!! Glad I'm not the only one that thinks so, on both counts. Drives me NUTS when there will be like 5 snipers on offense. All you need is one, MAYBE two covering objectives and counter-sniping.

I don't like the idea of a killstreak reward to help you win the round by even more. I recently got a 10-kill streak in Bad Company, and you know what? We won the round, because 10 of their guys were dead. Encouraging a 25-kill streak strategy tells players that to win, they should sit back and snipe. This might be realistic (no soldier charges the enemy base), but it's frustrating to see that your kill/death count was 15/20 while the rest of your teammates all achieved a kd of 2/1... and it's ten times more frustrating when they claim to be better because of their kill/death ratio.

Obviously, it's an extreme example, but everyone who plays that way drags his team down and makes it harder to have a good, fun competition online.

I play TF2 on a regular set of ... not quite clan servers, but close, and every now and then I'll join one and people will have decided they're "not playing serious". What this means ranges from not going for objectives, to not even killing each other. They just sort of goof around. I can understand the fun-vs.-"srs bzns" debate, but I can't understand how just running around taunting, spamming voice commands, and trying to form human pillars is more "fun" than anything that could reasonably be called "playing the game".

It's less annoying when they turn the server into an achievement farm, because at least helping people get achievements involves doing something interesting. Plus, the more achievements they get there is less they'll be messing up real games trying to get.

I want to go back to the original post for a second, and complain about the nuke a bit more.

You are stationed in a small town defending against invaders, and your objective is to prevent valuable assets from being destroyed. No matter what happens, those assets must remain functional.

Your most appropriate response? Camp their insertion point, rack up 25 kills, and arbitrarily be given permission to use the Big Red Button.

You win the battle. You successfully defended the assets, and your post, by blowing up the entire town. Congratulations. I'm sure the assets will be very useful once we wipe off the shrapnel and nuclear radiation.

Seriously. What the hell?

Happened all the time when I played WoW. People wanted to farm honor through kills, rather than end the game with a final lag cap.

Adding a timer to warsong glutch was a great move.

I wouldn't be surprised if my friend Keilty was one of the people yelling at you. That's what he does.

MW2 is just full of losers who do that sort of shit. Play Battlefield; it's solely based on objective, team play.

Your situation is ONE of the reasons why I quickly stopped playing MW2.
Oh trust me, if I had BF, this thread wouldn't even exist at all.

2fort in TF2 is the first thing that comes to my mind. A never ending clash of red v blu and no one tries for the intelligence.

Also in MW2 many people that I've encountered act like every game they play is a tdm. We'd be in a domination match and no one takes the points leading to the opposite team's quick win. That stuff annoys me!

I see now. Yeah, still makes very little sense. More sense than I originally thought, but still quite the retarded school of thought.
I'm glad someone agrees with me. I got banned from quite a few decent servers for simply repairing buildings. Then again, if they banned me, they must not have been all that good.

The formula is simple. If you don't have advanced weapons or vehicle - you get steamrolled.
Yeah I know C&C. I have Tiberium Wars, have played Red Alert 3. I remember first time playing TW was at a lan party, five of us who never played versus this one kid who was a master. We all died. The first four within 15 minutes. Then he withdrew from the last guys base, leaving him with little more than a barracks. Five minutes later he came back with the UFO/mothership thing. It was scary lol.

Well, if you are playing domination then you shouldnt be going for every flag. You are suppose to spawn trap them. But yeah, I agree. Sometimes I will go into a match like that and not play the objective, but I never tell someone to not play the object. Play the way that you have the most fun. Unless you are being a dangerclose noobtube Dbag. Then you can leave.

Also, if I am playing a friend and I am about to get a nuke I will tell him not to do anything. If I detonate the nukewhile we are losing we all win, so its a win/extra win for everyone. Extra win in the case that I got a nuke.

And also people who say this never happens in BC2? This happens more so. People just sit on the hill and snipe in that game, it's almost unplayable unless you have a 3 friends to play with you.

TF2 has some rare servers where nobody bothers with the objective.
tf2 has modded servers were it doesn't end to till the time limit ends and achievement the objective doesn't do anything
I know, but those aren't too different from the real game. Hell, I've had servers where a single capture point constantly switched sides, adding a few minutes game time every time it was captured and creating an accidental TDM in a server with lowered(not removed) respawn times.(in the most extreme server, I joined around 9PM, it finally ended around 2AM)

I usually tended to ignore the people when they pulled that crap on me. I also gave a bad player review to all the players that would trash mouth me for doing the objective. Bad Player review? I'll most likely never see the person again, since they would officially be below me.

Plus, how often do people get good player reviews? I'd expect bad player reviews would be high? way higher than good player reviews.

It's even better when not only does your team not focus on the objective but they betray you and take the objective back to the other team. This happened to me in Halo 3 CTF, everytime I grabbed the flag my team would kill me and take the flag back to the other teams base.

I wish those player review things actually seemed to do something. Sadly not for most people. I remember one time I submitted a negative review and the guy's rep went from 3 stars to 4. I was, like, what?
