here in Newfoundland some of the accents of people who come into St. John's from 'around the bay' can have some brutal accents. My friend from Fogo's accent is really thick, whereas another friend from Dildo (yes, you read that right...it is an actual place) has an accent, but it isn't all that bad.

normally I don't hate anyone for their accent but for some reason I just plain hate that girls voice. In another case I was somewhat entertained a few years ago when a Frenchman was visiting and made fun of my mother for the accent she sported (Pacific northwest American if you want to know) when she was speaking English. It was one of those "Do you really have the right to make fun of anyone's accent right now Mr. Peppe le Pew?" moments.
*watches...waits...feels quite sorry for the mother...*

Okay, she's coming on no- OH MY GOD!!!! Ow my ears!

Seriously, what the fuck is up with that girl (although that's probably for a different topic)

Garage for one. Also Aluminum, which over there is Alumin-i-um. That extra syllable irks me.
You're right, we get even more worked up about it than you do. The lack of the 'I' in Aluminum really gets on our tits.

I can't believe nobody has said this, but scouse.

It ALL sounds like someone who needs to bring up a greenie. Welsh is pretty bad too, it always sounds like they're slightly surprised at what they said at the end of a sentence.

Also, when people do Irish accents, and across 4 words it skips through about 9 counties. Actually really does annoy me.

I'd have to say Brad Pitt in Inglorious Bastards, his voice in that movie annoyed me and entertained me at the same time.

Fake Irish accents. They fail. Minly because there is no Irish accent.

Yes there are. There are hundreds in fact. In both the North and South of Ireland... there are many accents. There is no singular irish accent. The one that's imitated the most is the Dublin accent as its the capital, but I assure you... there are many accents...

When my friends from the states attempt to imitate my accent (I have a Yorkshire accent) because they can't do it. It's pretty damned hilarious to listen to though.

That woman in charge of the Reapers in Just Cause 2.

"My name is Bola Santosi!"

I think that was her name...

The accent sounded so badly forced that it hurt my ears just to listen to it.

Oh my ears. My poor, poor ears.... Someone really needs to tell that girl to stop talking and respect her mother. God almighty, her voice... is absolutely terrible.

In short, what is the worst accent you have ever heard? Whether it was actually a native accent or a fake one, whose accent has ticked you off the most in the media?

I hate the lead characters from The Saboteur and Just Cause. They both seem painfully fake and irritate the hell out of me.

Opinions?
In real life every Mexican that tries to speak English. Or what they call English (yes, I live in Mexico, this is not a racist opinion). Though there are some that can speak English just fine, most of the Mexicans cannot really do it properly, use the wrong verbs and mostly of all they do not give too much importance to the language.

In videogames, however, I haven't really met any accent that has pissed me off.

Really? And how would you know? My best friend, D, is a pureblood American Irish, 3rd generation (his grandparents are Irish immigrants. He is fluent in Gaelic, and he tells me that the Irish have very distinct accents. Have you ever seen the film "Gangs of New York?" Listen to Liam Neeson speaking in the very beginning. The accent sounds a little like that; a lilt, almost sounds sing-songy. Whereas the Scottish accent sounds similar, but spoken in the back of one's throat--almost guttural.

Worst: My west coast American accent is rather boring
Best: A guy from Randburg I was talking to had one of the most interesting accents i've ever heard. Not easy to mimic though :(

I have a little annoying cousin who thinks she can do an English accent. She says only one sentence and she does it extremely badly.

"But what if I make a fool of meself?," she says in a high pitched voice.

Yes. You did.

That's what I meant. I just phrased it poorly. There isn't a singular Irish accent. I'm fully aware, I myself am Irish. If I go ten miles down the road from where I live in any direction there is a completley different accent.
