Pretty much every single creature above the baseline in Demon's Souls. Those bastards can hit you from across the room for half your health... it really stretches the meaning of the word "boss".

For me it was always the fourth boss in Kirby Tilt'n'Tumble (obscure game on the GBC, definitely a buried treasure). When I was a kid, I'd stop playing that game for weeks or months at a time because of that boss.

The Last Remanant.

The Gates of Hell.

2 turns per round, has multi-union AoEs and resureects your dead unions ON HIS SIDE.

And your forced to waste 2 turns summoning Cyclops, who is useless and is just used as a bullet shield.

Velius from Final Fantasy Tactics

FFT isn't a particularly difficult game. If you keep your gear up-to-date and fight with reasonable cunning, you can usually pull through the game's tougher battles. This one fight, though... It's completely unreal. Velius is extremely powerful physically and magically, boasting some of the game's most devastating spells and summons. What's more, he attacks you with a team of three Archaic Demons that are at least half as powerful as he is.

If you're not prepared, you're dead. If you want to survive the fight, you have to play the hell out of this game. Level up, learn new abilities, get the advanced job classes, all that stuff. If you don't see it coming, it's completely unfair.

And, of course, the game offers you the opportunity to save right before the battle. If you make the mistake of saving over your previous data and find that you simply cannot win the battle, you're fucked.
Dear God this....the 3rd Seymour fight and Yunalesca in FFX as well...
Oh, Yunalesca is an absolute terror. I fell for that stupid Zombie status/Megadeath trap she uses about six times before I realized what I was supposed to do, and even after that, it took me about seven or eight further tries to finally beat her.

The freakin Dragon god in Demon's souls. I think I need to just grind some more levels before I should even attempt it. Literally if I get brushed by his fist it's an insti kill.

Not to mention I can't see the fucker if I want to run forward so every attack is a surprise attack. I managed to get to the first bolt thrower then got insti killed by flame breath. I can't do it.
watch his eyes they glow red before he attacks you and yeah regardless of level its more or less a insta kill if he nails you

The Spider Ball Guardian in Metroid Prime 2 xP

Basically all of the bosses in any of the Jak and Daxter series just because you have the equivalent of 4 health bars and an M14...I spent many of my teenage years growling at the TV over those three games (because none of the newer ones MATTER)

There was this one boss in Paper Mario (for the Gamecube not the Wii) that I could never get by. I forget his name but it was on a train and he sucks up people that were standing around and used them against me. I tried at least twenty times then threw down the controller and never played it again.
That guy, his name is Smorg. I always thought he was pretty easy but I played that game at least 4 times.

Mass effect 2's Praetorians.

Which makes it a good thing that you fight them only 2 times, I swear these things make me want to bite my pinky off

Elizabeth Greene in prototype. she has a main health bar, that regenerates, along with three smaller health bars you have to destroy before you can even touch her. toppled with tanks attacking you and massive hunters jumping everywhere. and the three smaller health bars regenerate. and it fires rocks and green plasma at you that magically lock on to you.

yeah it's a ***** to fight.
Oh god.

You mean to tell me that she isn't the final boss?

*sigh*

I cannot wait to see what the game shoves in my face next.

Seriously though, this now has to be my answer. God damn you Elizabeth Greene.... ma'am.

Also I have to give mention to Bane from Batman: Arkham Asylum. The Joker's boss fight was cartoonishly easy yet when I have to battle Bane I get annihilated over and over again until I'm swearing at the screen louder then the roars of two angry lions who just achieved orgasms while lying with their mouths next to a megaphone.
I just don't know why, but that truly is from hell.
Mine's from AA, but it's not even a boss fight. You're in a small room, with elevators. There's two of the big things that you hit with batarangs, and loads of goons. On Hard, it took me forever to beat it.

Gattuso, the amazingly annoying wolf thing, from Tales of Vesperia. I hated that thing so much. Took me forever to beat him.

I remember that fight. Scared the crap outta me. It resurrected my torgal on his side and made him wipe out half my party. Luckily I got him back later.

for me though, it has to be the You vs CyclopswithGaebolg fight. Not so much Cyclops as the Gae Bolg. I only got though it cause I had Emmy and her Namul Niram.

Maester Seymour on Mt. Gagazet in Final Fantasy X. He beats me three times for every time I beat him.

Almost all of the bosses in Persona 4 are bitches except for the last two, and even then you have to play your cards close to your chest. Every one of them has INSANE amounts of health, and your first time through the game, when you're getting a handle on how all of the game's systems work, you can expect to return to the Title screen A LOT.

The Dustflier from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Anyone who's played should know what I'm talking about. Again in the Kingdom Hearts universe, Sephiroth (From the original). I still haven't beaten him, after all these years. I could also mention several different non-final bosses from those games. The final bosses tend to be rather weak in those games. :/

I'm sure there are some bosses from Cave Story, but I can't think of any right now. I'd mention to boss gauntlet at the end, but I think they all count as a final boss together.

OT:None that cross my mind at this poi- Wait,I remember one.Your shadow thing that Riku summons up in Kingdom Hearts 1.You know, the one in Neverland.

The Dragon Tank from Chrono Trigger, regenerating health and a crap load of attacks, and I can only beat him with two of the weaker characters. Needed to use a strategy guide to find out where to hit and what with.
Are you kidding? That thing pretty much announces what part of it you should take out first.
"The Wheel heals the body"
Hmmm gee, maybe I should take that out first, ya think?

OT: That bloody Dark Elf in Final Fantasy IV. It took everything I had just to find out he had a second form.
