Yes. Fascism and Communism are two wholly opposed ideologies. Fascism, if anything, bears the most in common with an imperialist logic, while Communism obviously traces its roots back to socialism and is also connected to anarchism. Your "friends" need to inform themselves better.

Its kinda ironic that America's Commander-in-chief is such an envied post, and widely accepted as the most powerful position in the world when, for the most part all the people elected to this post are given very limited power, have to literally fight to pass any sort of directive, and get lambasted by everyone for never doing enough.

I'm not into politics, nor much into all these definitions, but I know enough to say that Obama isn't fascist or a Communist. Hes a sensible man whos trying to do something good for his country. Its just been a little disappointing, as with his charisma and eloquence everyone was perhaps expecting more. Either way, he can't do worse than Bush.

The commander in chief is considered the most powerful man because he is in control of the troops of the greatest army to exist thus far. Yes, the president can move troops wherever he/she wants without involving congress, though cannot declare war without congress.

Ok. Let's go down the line here.

1. I have two jobs right now, one in a grocery store, and I'm about to graduate with a Bachelors in Business Management. I don't expect to be compensated more for my college experience, but I am paid more because I've done cashiering for five years, four of which at the same company.

Also, pilots, right now, are paid around $30,000 for their first year. Is that low? Not really. As a Flight Officer, or first year pilot, they're not flying the plane, but helping keep it on course and safe. The Captain flys the plane, and they get a larger salary.

You're obviously working hard to get where you want, and i hope you get there, but not everyone who works hard reaps the benefits as they should.
That $30k a year depends on the airline, regional pilots are likely to be paid much less. When i'm on a plane, i want all staff alert and the on the ball, and not tired because they've been working two jobs and are exhausted. And definitely not disgruntled over their latest pay cut.

2. Trust me, I've seen it. Not all of the impoverished do it, but a good number of them do in some fashion. In fact, I've seen several regulars at my grocery store who buy 100 dollars or more on food stamps every time they come in, and families who split up and buy the exact same things with coupons for each item. It's not just living off welfare or government aid that's the issue, it's those people taking advantage the system.

You're right, you'll always get people who exploit the system, but that shouldn't mean the people who are genuinely needy should miss out just because of a couple jerks.

Actually, I just noticed a misquote I made here. I meant to say small businesses die as a result of higher taxes and greater regulations, not Capitalism. Still, since small businesses create the majority of the Capitalist work force in America, it's the same both ways.

But small businesses didn't die during the high tax rates of 1933-85, and regulations have nothing to do with profitability. Take the banking industry of Australia, for example. It's very heavily regulated, but even during the GFC those banks all remained extremely profitable, while the very loosely regulated banks of the US went bankrupt.

3. You missed the point. In which Communist or Socialist nations are websites like this one created and maintained? Do any of these nations create websites where people can communicate like us on the Escapist? Now, in fairness, China has some websites that make people money. The problem is that they usually do so though selling knock-offs that are harmful, or by fraud, unless you're willing to give the gold farmers a pass.

I can draw on experience from this because I bought two DS games I thought were good from an eBay seller, only to find out later that they were pirated and the seller was actually based in China instead of Australia.

Still, Obama cannot be classified one way. From what he, and his people, have done, he can be called a Maoist, a Communist, and a Socialist.

Seeing as i can only speak English, i can't verify if there are similar websites in foreign countries, but considering the spread and popularity of the internet, and even the growing dissent in places such as China, that doesn't mean there aren't similar websites out there for those countries.
And while China do make a lot of crap (I bought a GBA game on eBay from a respected seller that turned out to be a pirated copy, and it crashes at the same point every time), that has nothing to do with Socialism or Communism; it just means they have incredibly low standards of quality.

No one couldnt, one would find (upon doing ones research) that corporations LOVE fascism.

EDIT: And, in fact, America was nearly turned into a fascist state by a bunch of corporation heads including George W. Bush's grandfather.

Whether or not they enjoyed it is irrelevent. it is typical of fascist governments to order corporations around. For instance, Hutler ordered German car companies to make tanks and planes.

I think you will find that every country did that... seriously, just a little research.

Yet again, i never compared the US to any other country. Specifically i was referring to the health care reform which forces insurance companies to provide coverage to everyone in a certain age bracket. If every other country is doing it, than every other country has fascist elements.
