Edit: I love the very American idea that 'rich people work harder' When you grow up with a monarchy where the only quality that determines how rich you are is how inbred you are you leanr how much of a fallacy that actually is.
But see we arn't growing up in that atmosphere, We're growing up in one where if you apply yourself and learn a trade well enough you can make it, but its almost not worth it because socialist politicians *gazes momentarily to Obama's direction* want to tax the crap out of the rich and give to the poor as if they were a modern day Robin Hood, and thats primarily why I gave up the idea of starting a business because I didn't want to deal with being called "rich".

Mmmm the American dream. Everyone can make it if they work hard enough. Sorry I disagree. I believe anyone who thinks that priviledge and blind luck don't filter into success is dreadfully mistaken.

As for the idea of the government taking from the rich and giving to the poor I must say I agree with that as well. It's the exeuction of those policies that present a problem. Do I think Joe Stock Broker shouldn't get a solid gold lexus this year so a few hundred poor people can eat? Yes. Do I think small business owners should be taxed to the hilt for the same reason? No not really.

See the funny thing about Welfare is that it was suppost to be a Temporary program to get people into college and back on their feet, well many years later we have second generation welfare families.

And blind luck only applies if your playing Deal or No Deal, not in the real world.

EDIT:Also that's how they started income taxes, they said that it would only be a small tax on like the industrialists and not effect the farmers at all, and now look at the havoc its causing.

also FAIR TAX FTW!

No, you're grow up in a an atmosphere where that crap is stuffed down your throat from an early age so you don't even understand that you can do just fine because *corporate* taxes are not always the same thing as *business* taxes.

No. You don't get to play that shit American pig dog. Even the worst of our fast food (dog kebab probably) cannot match the sheer fucking crazed decadence of the Luthor burger.
Yeah, but you can't just run across multiple locations serving the Luthor burger on the way home from the pub, now, can you?

Now if only we could have the cultural exchange of some of our White Castles in return for your Curry'n'Chip Shops, we would reach walk-home-from-the-pub food equilibrium.
so um... what does this have to do with Obama and him winning?
Everything! All of the world's problems can be solved simply by comparing fast food restaurants.

Another funny thing about the "rich" is that Small business owners have to include the business income as their own income so if they make enough to be considered the "Evil Rich" then it hurts them making corporations even stronger because all tax hikes do is effect the consumer, that's right Coporations don't pay more on tax hikes you, the consumer, do They just raise the price enough to counter balance the taxhike plus some but its their fault for raising the prices too.

/rant
WHAT!? noone gives up on their future ambitions because they will make 4% less on anything over 250k a year, only lazy people looking for an excuse to say how hard it is and point the blame at the scary black man in office. Really, say you make 500,000 a year, its only increasing tax by 10,000, noone at that income should be able to complain about it.

My god, its daylight robbery! What will the poor rich man do with 2% less income? Their world will collapse I'm sure. /end sarcasm

2% of 200k is a total of 4k a year, and when the "rich" is a business owner that most of that money goes into the business, thats 4k, off of his profits, which may only be 15-20% of it, 30k-40k, its a lot

o and the VP says 150k, and when Obama campaigned before the World Series he said 200k, so which number is it?

Oh shit now the Europeans are waking up and telling America what a good boy it was, next thing you know they will expect us to bring them the paper too. (Most of that sentence was tongue in cheek)

America has always gotten the President it deserves, for better or worse (depending on where you stand) this time is no different. Now its just pissing me off more that other nations are chiming in on our political process when they have no clue.
Mmm because its completely necessary to live in the US to have an opinion about their government.

Its not like its a choice that will affect the whole world I mean, what with America being so Ultra-isolationist and all.

Yep but there's still an element of... you guessed it... pot luck. Same goes for any business venture. The market can change at any time. A useless skill can become useful and a useful one can become useless.

Well, as a American all I can say is I can finally feel proud to be a American again. Been a long time since I felt hopeful when it came to politics.

That said, Obama has his work cut out for him. Will be interesting to see what he, and the other Democrats do with the power that they have just been given.

Yep. It's completely wrong to look at another nation and make value judgements on their government. It's also wrong to then invade said country and attempt to change said government.

Pot to kettle. Pot to kettle. You are Black ! Repeat You are black! Over

I think were working parallel points here, although I'll throw in Fondants way phrasing it, just so the full spectrum of hypocrisy is visible:

So, what did you want to get out of Obama's presidency?
Hope n' Change.
So, what is he going to do for you?
Hope n' Change.
Right, but what do you think he'll do first?
Hope n' Change.

Thanks, guys. Can't wait for him to cut my Air Force job, either.
