as with all greats subject developed by the mind of man the academic study of ones passion can only ever be a benefit to the overall experience of said topic. An actor while not on stage or screen may perhaps study the writings of Antonin Artaud or Bertolt Brecht in an attempt to become a more rounded performer, to hone his craft. While not playing games in order to build the physical skill to continue gaming, interacting on a forum such as this rekindles the fires, the passion, appreciation and shared joy of gaming through a community of like minded people, playing games more than interacting in such a way would make gaming itself a drudgery and therefor removing its entertainment value and subsequent purpose. It might even stop you playing games all together. Spending time on the escapist prevents this horrific outcome.
