Ocarina of Time isn't nostalgic. It was on the N64. Nostalgia for me, is playing Top Gun on the NES, and never being able to land. Or playing any game on the Atari 2600, in all its 8-bit glory. On Topic: Either finding all the skulltulas, or the level when you are inside the Great Deku Tree.
Good lord, I have so many great memories from playing Ocarina of Time - Discovering the large scope of Hyrule Field, getting scared senseless by the redeads, becoming an adult for the first time - that it would take forever for me to list them all. That, and no one would probably want to read such a massive wall of text.
I may type them later, when I'm not suffering from morning-half-sleepyness.
My best memory is when you beat Twinrova, and the two witches die arguing. It's an incredibly funny sequence, and one that people tend to overlook.
There are countless other memories as well - jumping the fence at Lon Lon Ranch with Epona, learning the Scarecrow's song, the epic battle with Dark Link, Darunia's hot beat, and far too many others to mention. It's why it's my favourite game of all time.
I remember getting so messed up in the Water Temple that I actually had to start again from the start. Honestly, I was so stuck I got my friend to do it for me who had already beaten the game and he said there was nothing he could do.
luckily the game was so awesome I didn't mind to much starting over again, in fact I already had a second file that I started not long before hand! Just because I wanted to play the first few parts of the game again, go figure.
Same here. The last boss experience in general was awesome, from the atmosphere, lighting, the big storm in the background and then the music, with the words "GANON" appearing... it sent a big shiver down my spine, and I've re-done that battle about 30 times since.
I can't get enough of The Legend of Zelda. I guess it means more to those that've played the oldest ones, where Ganondorf was just Ganon.
If you're anything like me, you genuinely love The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and playing it on the N64 was probably one of the most memorable gaming experiences of your life. If you aren't, then what are you doing in this thread?
Anywhow, I thought I'd start this thread to hear your most memorable moments whilst playing the game. They could be positive moments of triumph, or dark moments of defeat. They could have happened all the way back in 1998, or even last week while you were playing the game on the Wii VC!
Remember finding the third Small Key in the Water Temple?
Remember getting the Biggoron Sword?
Remember getting stuck for an hour one room away from Bongo-Bongo in the Shadow Temple, completely unaware of how to cross the chasm?
I sure remember all the above-mentioned moments, and countless others that made me fall in love with the game one minute, and curse its name the next.
Realizing that Ganon can only be killed with the master sword after I'd been fighting him for an hour, using up all four bottles of blue potion/Nayru's Love combination, trying to kill him with the Biggoron's Sword, even after picking up the Master sword again. I had one heart left when I thought to switch, and, lo and behold, there came the final cutscene.
Jumping over the gate of the ranch to escape. (Yes, you can do that and it will still show you jumping over the fence. I just tried the gate first.)
Dark Link. Grrrrr. Still not as brutal as he was in Zelda 2 though.
Meeting Malon for the first time as an adult and getting genuinely angry at Luig*cough*Ingo. Pity I didn't have the money or skill to beat him just yet.
Twinrova's laughter, music, and Z-target text. 'Ganondorf's surrogate mothers?' How responsible are they for his uncommon evil? Don't forget their death... sounds like they're saying 'I hate this!'.
Very true. I think it's more worrying, however, that immediately after posting that (and I'm not kidding here) the wind picked up and it started bucketing down with rain.
