Ta ZeroMachine, but after doing some quick research, it seems that it's just pretty much normal influenza. Im pretty sure quite a few people have had that before being vaccinated for it (myself, for a start) and haven't died. I reckon those fatalities were probably weakened people or older people. I agree with The Grey Wolf, it doesn't look like an incredibly dangerous disease.

Let's just hope no-one slows down the kill rate of Ebola and passes round a nice airborne strain huh?

:D

Does the H1N1 virus really need all this press attention? Really we survived Mad Cow, Bird Flu, and SARS.

Goddammit don't say that out loud...*begins bleeding from eyes*...I hate you.
Don't worry, you've got a few days until you piss out your kidneys, you can come over and cough on me before then.

Glad to see a thread with 'Official' in the title about this.

...Now, if we can find a Red Guard on their daily beat to lock up the other 11 threads... Wilson's, where are you when we need you?

[HEADING=3]World Health Organisation Ups Alert Level Over Swine 'Flu.[/HEADING]

The UN's World Health Organization has raised the alert over the spread of swine flu to level five - one short of a full-blown pandemic.

A phase five alert means human-to-human transmission in at least two countries.
The move comes after a 23-month-old Mexican child died in Texas - the first death from swine flu outside Mexico, where the outbreak originated.
In Spain, officials confirmed the first case of swine flu in a person who has not travelled to Mexico.

Level 5.

+1 constitution, +1 strength, +1 rate of killing.

Wolf~
Yep. I thought I had heard they went to five, even though their website said four. Just didn't want to scare.

I'm nervous... but at the same time, I think we'll be fine as long as we be careful.

Like I said, cross your fingers and wash your hands and we'll be fine...

I see swine flu merely as an opportunity to get one of these babies and live out all my cyberpunk dreams:

DAMN I'm going to look badass.

I'm not really very aware with the others diseases but from the looks of it this one is spreading really fast. Only 2 days ago it was secluded to Mexico and U.S.A and now it's in Europe, Australia, Russia and New Zealand already?

That's way too fast.

It killed tons of people in Mexico just like that. I really hope it doesn't kill more and that the people casualties were weakened or elderly people but it looks bad compared to those.

Wolf~
England have it cos some dick honeymooners went to Cancun where the main problem is. Silly burgers. Then a girl in the south west of england contracted it somehow and they've had to shut her school down. People in London and Edinburgh have got it. Haha, I'm right in the middle of them both.

New Zealand have it cos of some school kids going to some place in Mexico.

But it's summer in a few months, so I guess it might die down a little bit and give all the big health guys chance to make vaccinations and stuff.

What about all those people who are now going to have to pay cancellation fees on their holiday flights out of paranoia surrounding the soon-to-be-pandemic.

Sorry to bring this up for bringing it up for the second time, but on what basis is this thread the official one? The fact that the thread starter put an "Official" on it? (Not taking a swing at you Danny Ocean, just trying to understand someone's perception on it)

Furthermore why would the moderator lock up the previous 11 threads about it and make this one the true official one? I've read others that look alright and just as good as this one.

Is it because the person that started it is a escapist regular? Is that it?

Wolf~
Well, the main reason to lock up the other 11 threads about the same topic is because they're very similar and can easily be merged. I mean, if you could take almost a dozen threads about the same topic and put them into one, it seems like a good decision, right?

And yes, the 'Official' in the title is the main reason that I would think this thread would become the sole thread on the subject if that did happen. I agree with you- most of the other threads are perfectly fine, but the fact still exists that there are so many of them.

This thread will be official if the mods decide it will be and lock all the rest of the threads about the same topic.
