umm, why is it we would treat our significant other any different because of a holiday?
I can understand it gives people the courage to walk up to the gals they like and try and ask em out, but for those already in a relationship why don't they treat each other the same every day as they would on valentines day (minus the overpriced gifts)

OT: When I was single I STILL loved Valentine's Day. I'd buy all of my friends and loved ones Valentine's gifts and do thoughtful things for the ones I love. At night, I'd get dressed up all fancy, go to a nice restaurant by myself and take a table that a couple desperately wanted. ^_~ I'd get free drinks from everybody because I was "brave" for coming alone.

My girlfriend's working. She already bought me the Tron: Legacy OST, and I'll get her something as well. Nothing crazy. It's just Valentine's Day. I'd rather go out to eat two days later, when there's less crowds, less tacky pink shit, and a general more romantic atmosphere.

Valentine's Day is the one day a year where I feel like absolute shit because society seems to be of the opinion at that time that if you're single you are a complete antisocial loser. Seriously, this is what all that bullshitty advertising tells me. -.-'

I refuse to acknowledge this "special day!"
Edit: I don't like it because people hype it up where I live a lot. It's annoying. I'd only consider it worth the hype if I get a day off.
Anyway, I have nothing to worry about. I don't want a leech or girlfriend or what ever they call it these days, so it's just a normal day to me.
With couples being more touchy than usual.
And lot's of people whining about not having a "significant other." So... only slightly less annoying than a usual day.
