Haha they're afraid that Gossip Girl is "corrupting" their kids when the kids are probably already drugged up and having sex.

These people need to pay a visit to my school library to learn what pornography really is.
We have hentai art books and random porn magazines littered throughout the shelves...

And they're there on purpose. :|

BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Let us say that they do ban the book. In less than a day they go onto the internet and read fan fiction. It isn't the libraries fault its the parents. Although I have nothing against book ratings, but you can't really ban literature.

I'm very curious of what your school is like, especially with the hentai thing.

But on topic, can you say moral guardians? [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MoralGuardians]

Depending on which titles it has and how arduous the checkout policy is, you might have the greatest school library ever.

Ok so after thousands of years of having books people are just now making a big deal about sex in them? Well at least they've stopped looking a video games for about 3 seconds. [/sarcasm]

While Gossip Girl is the scourge of the entertainment industry, it is the snowball effect I'm worried about. It may start with the shitty books, but how long before it affects something that matters? This also makes me wonder why sex is still so taboo in out modern society. Violence and gore are all very well, but as soon as you see some bare ass, every parent gets their shotgun and starts a riot.

I've never read them. Do they have any educational value? Are they availible at the local town library? Maybe it's just a series that, you know, really shouldn't be in schools. On the other hand, MacBeth is pretty violent, should they get rid of that too?

Don't get pissy with the people trying to protect the kids. I'm a parent, it happens. If they can get the books elsewhere, maybe that's the safe route to go.
