While I want to go "Oh, those silly Brits." I just know Americans would do far worse in the percentages. Hell, we are dealing with people that think the Earth is only 6000 years old here.
Well, to be fair, there's a bunch of those in the UK too. All over Europe, really. Pentecost congregations world-wide tend towards creationism. I was told in no uncertain terms by one (Swedish) believer that the dinosaur bones where put there by the Devil to test our faith, and that carbon dating was a conspiracy between Satan, Anti-Christ and Science. Possibly also the Muslims (

). Oh, and here's a good one: God created the universe with light already heading here from distant stars. Genesis even explicitly states that light was created before the stars. Uh-huh. Makes sense. I have a bunch of examples like those from discussions with devout Christians and Jews who believe in a Young Earth and the Continuing Miracle.
Really though, calling out (fanatical) religious people for being obviously dumb is sort of uninspired in my opinion. Kind of child's play, like teasing your playground friends for believing in Santa. Especially since there's the really effing dumb people out there that have no excuse, that need a good telling off. I mean, you can't expect anything coherent from fanatical Young Earth:ers unless you convince them what they believe in is wrong. Honestly I'm undecided on the issue if that's even ethical to do, leaning towards that it's not (freedom of opinion, speech, religion and all that).
To illustrate the point of really dumb, here's a favourite stupid-quote of mine, from a British citizen no less:
I think we should give up our liberty for freedom.
That lady needs a slap and a copy of Orwell's "1984".
