Two words that will give hope to you Americans:

Ron Paul
Damn right! Ron Paul would have been a great step towards fixing this countries problems. Definitely better than what we got stuck with but he was sidelined in the media, and I really wonder why... *rolls eyes*

Looks like some power brokers, once again, had a big problem with the constitution and personal freedoms.

Go Ron!

All I can say is: 9 months.
It's been Nine Months and he has re-opened talks in the middle east, been commended by international allies and enemies, got a nobel peace prize, at least tried to close Gitmo and has been forcing Health Care plans on congress instead of just letting the issue slide by like so many others would. So far, he hasn't made giant changes, but he is reaching towards them. Which is a lot more than we could say for some other presidents. Change doesn't happen over night. Give him time.

aka, I agree with you McClaud.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention that he is in the process of working with Russia to lower our number of nuclear arms. From the looks of things, he is trying to get it to where we can only nuke the surface of the earth once over. Socialist bastard.

You're damn right it is, seems one day we may well see it. Would be a grand sight to see some specific figure heads (most all politicians) hanging from the gallows. Though I doubt this country will muster the balls to cry treason to that level.

Don't worry, we got the same problem in England with the choosing the lesser of the two evils. On one hand you got Labour, their attempt at politics is akin to a person suffering from Huntingtons attempt basketball, they sit around being old and fat, stealing your tax money and spending it on gardening or porn films (I wish I was joking) and giving people 5 years for homocide.

The alternative is the Conservatives, they basically want to harvest poor people for oil and the head of their party, David Cameron, seems to be completely disillusioned about what is actually going on in Britain and the world.

Of course, the BBC seems to now have an infatuation with the BNP which means the British Nazi Party are gaining ground rapidly, they're almost as good as the other two, Nick Griffin, their leader, denies the holocaust ever happened and they want on a BBC radio show lately and started saying how Ashley Cole shouldn't be able to play for England because he's black. But like I said, they're growing in popularity because it seems like someone in the BBC hates 'dem 'der dirty foriegners and so they are getting alot of screen time.

So yea, as bad as it gets in America, just think, it could be worse, you could live in the UK. Although we're better at football, so that makes up for it.

Anyway, wrong topic to post about the UK, sorry about that rant, it was meant to be like 3 lines. That said, I thought the OP was a good read, nice work old chap.

I fucking hated Bush with every breath in my body. Obomber is just next in line. He's done really nothing to restore constitutional rights as he promised he would. He's kept rendition flights, expanded the CIA influence and power and basically has reneged on every promise he's made. So far he's batting at a very low percentage.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

The Obameter Scorecard

* Promise Kept 47

* Compromise 12

* Promise Broken 7

* Stalled 12

* In the Works 120

* No Action 317

There is nothing the Radical Right wants more than for people to become disillusioned with politics or to think that both sides suck: the Radical Right doesn't care if you think they suck, they'll just do what they want to do anyway while Liberals spend their energy and political capital trying to win your approval. If the political climate is such that facts don't matter and everyone is some South Park Cynic whose approval cannot be reasonably won, the Radical Right wins.
WHAT? SEVEN WHOLE PROMISES BROKEN?

Absurd.

It's the rather sizable "no action" section which bugs me. You know the nominations for the Nobel Prize closed something like 2 days after he was elected, right? So somebody literally nominated him before he had a chance to do ANYTHING... And people say he still deserved it? Maybe now, but definitely not at the time of his nomination.

Also, I find your use of the phrase "South Park Cynic" with negative connotations to be greatly offensive. I suggest that you retract those words or I shall be forced to lead fellow Cynics to your house and march in protest all over your lawn.

if only we could make it a law that congressmen found to be corrupt, especially with tax evasion(either spectrum) be tried for treason and hung outside the congressional building for all to see. That would sure cut down on political corruption~

Also, go to that site and check what the promises were that he did keep. A good portion of them are a fucking joke. I wouldn't have supported many of them at all.
- More troops in Afghanistan, check!
- Speech at a major Islamic forum, check!
- Expansion of hate crime laws, check!
- Support for the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts), check!
- Add a space shuttle fight, check! (are you fucking kidding me?)
- Use private sector to improve space flight, check!
- Explore whether Int. spacestation can operate past 2016, check!
- Get his daughters a puppy, checks! (my god)
- Appoint 1 republican to cabinet, check!

Some of these numbers are just a fucking joke, they are not really progress of any note. Don't get me wrong he has accomplished a few things I could say though he's still batting at a damn low percentage at this point.

I'm quietly intrested in what Obama's doing, but I'm annoyed at the idiocy a SMALL segment of opposition vomits forth as "evidence" of his "communism".

I remember one guy saying that the NHS was bad on the grounds that "If Stephen Hawking was born in Britain and had to go to the NHS, he wouldn't be here today"

I facepalmed SOOO goddamn hard I broke my nose and blinded myself for several weeks.

On a personal level, I can't wait for the idiot BNP to win the general elections someday, just so I can do some goddamn rioting!

Don't feed the troll. He's just trying to incite the flames of the thread (which is evident, as you put it, from him stating he's from the US in his profile)
That's why I want it nuked. I know how bullshit the country is after living in this shithole for 19 years.

Why don't you just head off across the pond then, budd. Somehow I doubt you'd be sorely missed with that attitude.

Indeed.
Fuck the BNP.
NO PASARAN!

And the slow changes is because the Democrats are actually center-right conservatives and centrist, Republicans are just crazy far righters at this point. You want an actual liberal party in America OP. Have fun with that.

The problem I have with this argument that it has not even been a full year since the institution of the new president. He also has a considerable mess to clean up from the last presidential administration, and to change anything is just going to take a very long time. Look at Ronald Reagan, for instance. The policies and what-not that he instituted didn't really take form until Clinton was in office. All Obama can do is to get thing moving and hope that it picks up in a few years. Other than that, give the man a chance, he still has over three years to go, if he isn't re-elected for another term.

I'm 100% behind the BNP saying what they want to say, even if I couldn't disagree more and would like to break Nick Griffins nose, freedom of speech works both ways. My problem is that on one hand the BBC are saying 'Isn't it terrible that people are voting BNP', while with the other they're giving the BNP a massive platform to speak from, I do love the BBC, but this does make me wonder about them. They complain about people voting for BNP, when they're the ones to blame, the majority of people who vote BNP probaly couldn't tell Hitler from Lennin.
