All I can say is: 9 months.
It's been Nine Months and he has re-opened talks in the middle east, been commended by international allies and enemies, got a nobel peace prize, at least tried to close Gitmo and has been forcing Health Care plans on congress instead of just letting the issue slide by like so many others would. So far, he hasn't made giant changes, but he is reaching towards them. Which is a lot more than we could say for some other presidents. Change doesn't happen over night. Give him time.

aka, I agree with you McClaud.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention that he is in the process of working with Russia to lower our number of nuclear arms. From the looks of things, he is trying to get it to where we can only nuke the surface of the earth once over. Socialist bastard.

I find it hilarious that everyone keeps saying, "KEEP YOUR SOCIALISM OUT OF MY DEMOCRACY" when about 80% of the people protesting Obama's supposed socialist tendencies are using Federal or state programs that are SOCIALIST in nature (social security, medicare, identity cards, etc).

The best world government isn't just socialist or democratic or whatever. It's a mixture of the best ideas of ALL government types to provide the best opportunities to the civilians of that nation to excel and live comfortably for the majority of their lives.

I'm 100% behind the BNP saying what they want to say, even if I couldn't disagree more and would like to break Nick Griffins nose, freedom of speech works both ways. My problem is that on one hand the BBC are saying 'Isn't it terrible that people are voting BNP', while with the other they're giving the BNP a massive platform to speak from, I do love the BBC, but this does make me wonder about them. They complain about people voting for BNP, when they're the ones to blame, the majority of people who vote BNP probaly couldn't tell Hitler from Lennin.
Got a little carried away, sorry. I agree that they have free speech, but at the same time I'm glad there's someone out there willing to take a huge stand against them and it amuses me when bricks hit Nick Griffin.

Considering they're basically a fascist party, I see them the same way I see "premature" anti-fascists who were fucking up the Gestapo and the NSDAP before they actually fully gained power. Not necessarily good in themselves, but it's good to know there is opposition willing to go the full mile.

Yea, no doubt, I agree with you there. But I myself could never prescribe to that way of thinking while things remain at words, as I'm a big believer in freedom of speech. Although, if it got to the point where the BNP got into a position and started actually hurting people, then I think it'd be a different story. Although I suppose you could have a whole conversation on what constitutes actually hurting people means and whether or not acting against it even at a latter stage would be damning freedom of speech, we've already derailed this thread enough though, so let us save it for another one. :p

For some reason, this post makes it sound an awful lot like we're actually having a proper debate hear, so let me just clear it up, I do agree with what you're saying, just felt I had to explain my stance abit more. :D

How many people old enough to vote do actually vote? (This is a part question for those of the escapist old enough)

I know I didn't in my last local elections, although I will in the general election. As far as I understand it, most people who are eligible to vote don't, and also don't care enough to really make their voices heard.

As has been said before democracy is two sided. You have to vote for what you believe in, and then if they don't keep their promise, you have to make sure they understand that, by protest or by poll, but whatever your method, you have to do something more thanrant on internet forums.

If the BNP gain any more power in the next British election, I am going to march in protest again, like I did the time when they got seats in Europe. Do something.

You know, providing solutions to all the world's problems is neither a quick nor easy task.

And you are bound to create more problems along the way.

There was actually a group of senior citizens who petitioned federal health care change because health was one of the police laws and it violated states rights to have the state take care of it. Oddly, all of them were drawing from Medicaid. Oh the hypocrisy.

It really can get to you sometimes.

If the political climate is such that facts don't matter and everyone is some South Park Cynic whose approval cannot be reasonably won, the Radical Right wins.
Also, I find your use of the phrase "South Park Cynic" with negative connotations to be greatly offensive. I suggest that you retract those words or I shall be forced to lead fellow Cynics to your house and march in protest all over your lawn.
That's the nice thing about offending Cynics. They say they'll lead fellow Cynics in a protest march, but you just know as soon as they start trying to organize the march, their leadership of the protest will be so severely criticized by fellow Cynics there's no chance for any agreement as to how the protest march should happen.

Cynics don't scare me--now the Peripatetics: when they threaten to march, they mean it! ;-D
Well, when fellow Cynics criticize me, I'll criticize back, undermining their points and refocusing attention. Then, we shall march!

After we finish writing reviews of things we hate.

Also, somebody asked whether the people posting here vote. I do! I vote Cynic Party every time. We're in support of Change and Radical Reform to the government!.. But it'll never happen.

Democracy means majority wins

So it's not dead.

In a republic, you vote for the party you want to lead you country.

Now the opposition is spreading propoganda and prevent stuff from happening.

So, yes in this way it is dead.
