Unrelated but the Escapist should really have quotes in smaller font to save space.
thats why we snip parts of quotes we don;t need

anyway..somthing I forgot to adresss

[quote/]PC doesn't deal with half the shit consoles do like only getting half the games and shitty ports. Scratch that, we barely get ports in the first place.[/quote]

uhhhh...what?

not getting half the games? what games?...are you talking about the massive indie thing thr PC has going? again that's due to all kinds of legal issues involving the consoles...the PC is open so its always going to have that element

and shitty ports?...shitty ports from WHERE? I mean PS3 I guess gets some (particually ME2) but honestly I don't see what you mean

and not getting ports?....ports from WHERE?

I don't really buy the "Download Size" argument. 15 GB may sound like a lot, but you still have the option to buy retail (and no, i don't find the retail part of PC gaming depressive. Why is it any more depressive than console gaming?).
.
to be honest I'm not actually this upset..

anywhere"data caps"...they are a thing

and by depressing I meant the sections are smaller and don't have as many..but to be fair here (In Aus) the stores still stock an ok section
Ah, my bad, i forgot that in some places you guys have data caps. In Denmark we don't need to deal with that for ADSL or fiberoptic lines (only on 3G/LTE subscriptions). We have unlimited traffic on our primary internet-connections.

There are far less high end PC Gamers than console gamers and the piracy rates for PC games are significantly higher. Development for PC's is also more complex and thus more expensive (testing on console = one hardware model, testing on PCs = infinite combinations).

Thus, triple A titles are aimed at consoles first and PCs second. Releasing games for consoles is easier, has a wider market and less piracy.

The argument of whether consoles or PC's are better than one another is completely irrelevant. Consoles are more profitable from a business perspective and therefore games companies focus their efforts on them rather than PCs.

PC gaming isn't dying - it is in fact still growing. However console gaming has outstripped it and is growing even faster.. therefore that's where the most money is.

And all that aside, there are plenty of truly great PC only games out there - thousands of them. Go play them. You go on a bit of a rant about consoles breaking games, which is just flat out wrong.. there are plenty of games where the controls are much better suited to a control pad.

You cite only FPS games.. well yes, FPS games are easier with a mouse. That's one genre of gaming that is better on a PC.. big deal. You complain about Red Dead Redemption being console only, but that game was perfectly fine with a controller, shooting included. You might not prefer it but that does not make you right - the game wasn't 'broken' by being on a console, it was a great game and I enjoyed it a lot.

Your other complaint about not being able to see.. I had the exact same problem. So, I bought a 23 inch 1080p 120Hz monitor for my 360 and I use that from PC gaming distance - problem solved. Cost a few hundred bucks and it looks awesome.

Anyway, I have a high end gaming PC and I have a console - I use them both depending on whatever platform suits the game the best and I never feel 'shafted'.

Its just a downside of the platform, Console gamers don't get mods and the like, P.C gamers get shit ports, miss games, miss DLC, delays, DRM etc.

Having both sounds pretty awesome.

Go look up a few "building a high-end gaming PC" guides and let me know how many of them say 4GB of RAM is plenty. If you're brave, check out a few "best gaming PC rig" guides, too. After that, tell us how many of them recommend anything but a SSD for top end performance. I'll wait.
Most guides are build on the principle of "The more, the better". In the case of RAM, they don't necessarily have any tests to back that up.

In terms of Frames Per Second, going beyond 8 Gigabytes will have pretty much no to extremely limited impact according to tests performed by Toms Hardware:

Now these benchmarks are without other applications (if you're running a lot of background stuff, going above 8 GB can potentially help a bit), and they don't showcase a lot in regards to loading times and finally they are slightly old, but fact of the matter is that if you're trying to build a gaming rig on a limited budget, more than 8 Gigs of RAM might be a waste of money. Sure, RAM is cheap, but it's not free, and the $50-70 it costs to upgrade to 16 gigs might be better off if thrown into your graphic card budget to buy a better card (you can always upgrade your RAM later if you get money, but graphic cards are more expensive to replace).

Another alternative to huge volumes of RAM is SSD's running in RAID. SSD's are extremely expensive though, but they can help alleviate loading times beyond a point where even RAM won't help you because the hard drive is the bottleneck.

PC gets shafted? Wut?

I feel like they were the only platform that didn't disappoint this gen (if PC and Mac even participate in 'gens'). Granted there's a problem with genre variety sometimes but I mean...I have a Wii for a reason.

What he said. You can get the best of both worlds...and the limits of both, but I've never felt the need to play a Mario Zombie Mod or download a custom minecraft skin for Zelda.

....Though now I desperately want both of those things.

I would think it's because all the big companies want people to buy their consoles, and obviously, if people are gaming on computers, then their consoles aren't being purchased, so because you aren't buying all of their consoles, you are their enemy. I think that ultimately, consoles will be phased out when the digital era comes into full effect, and that companies are desperate/will soon become desperate to keep making us buy their gaming platforms and fear the day when the only money to be had will be made off of games and minor hardware accessories, (i.e., a wii sensor bar that plugs directly into the computer, and specialized controllers). Also notable, I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about, so none of what I said is even remotely sensible or trustworthy. *cue generic tiredness excuse*

Now that's a bit of an exaggeration. Our internet is by no means the best in the world, but as an avid TF2 and MMO gamer, I can honestly say I have little problems with internet speed. Unless you try something silly like connecting to a European server, you shouldn't get too bad of a ping. A tunneling service also does wonders for that, if you can afford it.
It sucks that you have an internet cap though, I get unlimited ADSL2+ here in Brisbane for less than $50 a month, not sure where you live so it may be different there. It's absolutely amazing when you finally break free of those limits and never have to worry about your internet going the way of 1999 again.

Why there are some games on let's say the xbox but not the ps3/pc? simple.

Combined marketing.

A good gaming pc is not available for everyone, and consoles are a lot cheaper.

Take for example Gears Of War (yes i know the first one was ported to the PC, but the rest is, as far as i know, xbox exclusive) Hyped up immensly, but want to play? you will NEED an xbox.

All the 'cool' kids in school are playing in, due to peer pressure you want to fit in, thus you want to play the game.

And there we go, another Xbox sale and another game sale.

On the bad port part. that is just a quick cash grab they half-assed because they knew they would make enough money before people would realize / word would spread that, that port is complete shit.

A side note. auto aim / aim assist on console EQUALS cheating. Thats why i personally hate consoles and will always prefer mouse 'n keybord

[sub][sub]although maria kart on the gamecube with beer and friends is an exception[/sub][/sub]

true.the speed it pretty good...but internet caps need to die in a fire...It is partly my fault when my sister was organising our internet I should have looked into available unlimited plans (not as easy when using a mobile setup)... maybe when this contract is over...

eather way...

She has one. Try reading things.

OT: I don't get the feeling anymore. My purchases of AAA products has been minimal recently.
I think that may have been a joke

It boils down to marketing. This big publishers know more people own a console than game on a PC so they target all their releases for that market.

While the AAA publishers seems to have abandoned the PC platform Indie titles have taken their place. Not to mention all the F2P games available on PC. I primarily game on PC and I buy one to two AAA titles a year. The rest of the year I play indie games, F2P games, or some of my older games that I love. Oh, and we can't forget services like GOG that offer DRM free games.

So no, I don't think PC gamers are being "shafted". There's more to the games industry than the AAA.

uuuggghhh..don't get started theree

people hate on Gears Of War but it looks like alot of fun to me, and would totally have playes it had they continued the series on PC...but NOOOOOO they come up with some bullshit about piracy..I'm not buying an Xbox just to play a series I may find overhyped anyway

yes, people have been telling me its just different/ I should be using them BUT its all just fake difficulty to me (I mean to use the word in its original meaning its literally retarded)
