PC gaming is slowly but efficiently dying. EVERY game sold on the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC the PC always sells the least amount of copies. And lets be serious the only reason people have PCs are for info, news, World of Warcraft (Which I despise), The Escapist, buying stuff, and itunes. Besides those few things PC gaming is dying. The only people that enjoy are the crazed fanboys that every once in a while try to hump the disc drive. I admit I'll go back and play Half-life 2 every once in a while because I'm trying to pass the time til the next great console game comes out. Pcs were good for games then that went away, then they were good at customization in games and that went away, and now they're good only for porn.
Im going to have to tell you this, so i'll be honest. Fear not. Just because theres a lul in PC game sales does not mean the end of PC gaming. In fact, the very legacy of gaming history's most influential titles began on PC. We just now live in an age where such entertainment is now widely available on multiple outlets. Anyways, it holds very little when someone goes gaga over an Xbox 360 having a map editor or a Netflix plug in. Or the PS3 allowing you to play classic console titles(Nintendo beats you to the punch a number of times, sorry Sony.) The PC is still and always will, have a massive advantage over it's counterparts in terms of sheer open-end possibilities and content availability.

Now, this isnt to say our Triumvirate of platform systems simply cannot compete. To the exclusion of Laptops Consoles will always have the drop on the PC when it comes to on-the-go gaming. Additionally, the social aspect of consoles are a little more enjoyable than the usual shit talk over VOIP.

To point out a few things, though. Consoles and the PC share a common heritage that leaves them inevitably linked with one another. The PC sells the least on only certain games, you cannot simply say that for every release.Such as the Half-Life port for PS2 which was somewhat enjoyable. Or the Half-Life 2 Port for the Xbox, which to an avid fan of the series was a flaming pile of crap of a port. Then there were ports that also sucked for PC, such as the GTA games, although honestly now with the ability to have USB controller pads seems a little passe . But I hope my point still stands.

In truth, PC gaming will not die, not for a very, very, gratuitously long time. In fact, at the very least PC gaming will simply hit a depression that hit the PS2 late in it's final years. PC games have been, are and always will be among the most core parts in gaming culture. It is hard to imagine a future ion gaming without the PC on the front lines, breaking barriers that a console could only imagine in it's wildest calculations.

PC Gaming dying out??? Pish-posh nonsense i say! Ever heard of a little game called ... Counter Strike: Source (I love it), Half-Life (haven't played it but apparently it's pretty good), Fable: TLC (I preferred the PC version to the console version), WOW (I hate its guts but apparently it's quite popular ... outside the escapist community) and let's not forget Dragon Age: Origins!!! (I am getting it for Christmas ... on the PS3 ... sort of shot my argument in the foot there didn't I?)

Shooters are mainly what I us my PC for. Consoles I use for 3rd person games because it's too hard to do that stuff on the PC properly... :p
...or maybe I just suck.

Pretty sure a billion dollar industry is not "dying"...

Having less consumers than alternatives is not the same thing as "dying"

Or else Lamborghini would have went out of business a long time ago...

How long has PC gaming been dying and NOTHING has happened. Games are still being made for it so it surely isn't dying.

Consoles are cheaper for more processing power, graphics whatever because they are specialized. PC's will always have more junk available. PC's might be losing use, because they need to be exterminated. Would anyone consider keeping a generator in their house nonstop all the time, when you can buy it cheaper from companies? PC games might die out, but they will get replaced when cloud computing becomes common, in fact cloud computing will probably kill all consoles. Hmmmm...Topic idea!

No, no it is not dying. I have been hearing this for years now and it is just stupid to think that. For one when they collect totals numbers sold they don't include DD sites like D2D or Steam, two huge providers for games. Now I will say it has a very nasty STD called SecuROM (A fucking sickening rootkit that EA has put into almost all of its games, keeping tabs on everything you download and can make it impossible to play purchased games because it found something in your system it doesn't like, ex. Daemon Tools) But I digress, PC gaming is not dying, now there is a shit load of bitching (look above) but it is still better than consoles. (Remember this is an opinion, as in its not fact, a view point, its an opinion, ITS AN OPINION!)

If PCs go so do all good RTS games. Ever RTS I played on a console was nowhere near as good as a comparable PC game.

You are a massive retard, the only time making a computer is expensive is when you literally get a new one instead of upgrading. If you don't, all that ever really needs changing is the graphics card, RAM and processor, maybe the PSU if neccesary but that's cheap, especially since it'll last you through to the next age of consoles unless you yourself break it. A PC is not specialised but it does these things far far better than the things that do.
PC's will always have more junk available. PC's might be losing use, because they need to be exterminated.
Oyer, destroy an industry that is actually larger than the consoles are, smart you are. PC's aren't losing use at all.

Because it's cheaper to make your own power from a shitload of solar panels on your roof than it is paying bills. Sure you have to pay shitloads to actually get the solar panels but it pays itself off eventually.
PC games might die out,
Not for at least 10 more generations of consoles.

What?

If you think PC gaming is dying because of sales, you're obviously not taking into account how much digital distribution is available these days. Steam is a great service that many people use. Did you also notice that if a game is built from the ground up for PC, the PC version is usually better than the console versions? I'm talking about games like Dragon Age: Origins and pretty much everything made by Valve. Look, if you're posting this thread because you're biased against PC gaming, I understand. I was a console gamer long before I got a fast enough computer and was able to really get into PC gaming. Now I'm bilingual when it comes to the platform I play on. Seriously though, if you're going to post something like this, you should base it on actual statistics and not by the biased opinion of, "The only people who enjoy PC gaming these days are crazed fanboys."

Think of it this way. Consoles come and go, but the PC is still here. Sure, new versions come out every few years, but it's basically been the same thing for a long time. I'm not saying I'm a PC fanboy, but I will say this: PC GAMING WILL NEVER DIE, SO GET OVER IT!!!! It may go through some slow periods, but it's neither dead nor dying.

By the way, I'm reporting you before someone gets seriously offended by this.
