I've never heard anybody disapproving of Luis Pasteur, so I guess him. Oh, and Nietzsche.
FUCK NIETZSCHE! That guy is a total bumhole.
Nietzsche would approve of this :p
Nietzsche was one of the single most irritating philosophers I studied. I preferred bloody Machiavelli, and he pretended to be an assassin!
Teehee, I love messing with liberal arts people. But seriously, does anybody have anything against Pasteur?

Daniel Day Lewis.

His talent seems to overshadow his pretension.
I don't like Daniel Day Lewis.
Mainly cos i thought that "There Will Be Blood" was completely undeserving of my money. There was barely any blood at all!!

As for "Universally liked".....i propose Bill Murray.

eh..is it humanly possible to have something against Pasteur? Personally, I was fond of Kierkegaard. He was epic.

im surprised u didn't have a picture of Chuck Norris. Stephen Fry is a definate and maybe David Atinburgh? (bad spelling but the guy who does all the nature programs)
I hate Chuck Norris. I have a strong dislike for anyone who goes around attacking evolution, plus he let his overexposure due to an internet meme go to his head.

There are some people everybody hates and there are some people that are liked by a loud majority but hated by others (Justin Bieber comes to mind).

There are rarely people who are liked by the vast majority of people, two people who come to mind are:

Stephen Fry

The man is quintessentially British, a National treasure. I've never heard of anybody disliking the man. Which is rather ironic because he doesn't see himself as any of these things. Which makes us like him more.

Then there's this guy:

I know it's more of an internet thing, but the Old Spice Guy is brilliant, I'm pretty sure nobody is tired of this charismatic stallion. Also, he should totally play the Black Panther.

So, fellow escapists, is there anybody you think is pretty much liked by everybody? (Who knows about them of course).

This thread is now diamonds!

great, my mom walked in, and saw that huge pic on my screen... Shrugged and walked away

Fillion is a great guy for this list. He seems really cool, but someone who would hang out with the nerds and have fun. (There's even a demotivational poster to support that.)

It seems everybody likes Dalai Lama.

Sorry if this has already been said, but I just couldn't be bothered to read through the whole thread.

Nietzsche isn't universally liked. He just wrote a few bad books with purple prose that some young men who think they are better than others have come to like for reasons possibly involving delusions of grandeur and stereotypical, teenage "my parents don't understand me"-whine.

There, now you've heard someone disapproving of Nietzsche.
Disapproved, yes. But that's an awful reason for doing it. Nietzche wrote some of the greatest philosophical treaties of all time, that modern philosophy (and film-making) would be lost without. He had his equals - and perhaps his betters - but for critical texts on the nature of humanity, there are few that can call him a peer.

The "Will to Power" is as important to us today as it's ever been. Just because some Emos believe "God is Dead" to be an expression of atheism when it's a clear detailing of the destruction of Faith by belief, doesn't mean that you should hate it. Any more than the Ubermensch being used by the Nazis.

Nietzsche was a great man who abhorred great men.
(And if you're a troll, congratulations. :))

Oh yeah, there are apparently some deluded people who would rather risk salmonella and various other diseases by consuming raw food over delicious pasteurized products. Guess we should alter the rules of this thread to exclude insane and/or stupid people disapproving of an individual. 'course, that would mean Nietzsche, Machiavelli, Stirner, etc would still be in :p

The first ones who come to mind after blocking out all the others who were ninja'd from me are:

Robert de Niro
Michael J. Fox (was ninja'd, I know, but still too rarely mentioned)
and Kevin James.

Maybe it's not your style of humor and maybe some of his movies were mediocre but he's a seemingly very charming and funny person in real life.

EDIT:
