People who think they are Vampires

It should have been a requirment to post your own lifestyle choices (and some that weren't choices) before judging these "Vampires" criticly. I see people tossing around "they're crazy," and judging these people like they've done something criminal. Is your life really so much better than theirs that you can look down on theirs.
I'm no "vampire." A night owl, sure, but no "vampire." But the "normal" way I live my life is average to many, crazy to just as many, and undefineable to some. I'm sure if we heard any one of your stories posted here, anyone that could not relate may judge you just as hard as you've done here.
So my point; don't judge. You're no better, so don't act like you are.

I can understand being into blood-play (I'm into it myself, so is a lass I really like - wow, loads more replies - for the record we're both monogomous with a partner each, but fool around with one another - both HIV negative, we've checked, we're not *complete* morons). But actually thinking you're a vampire? C'mon.
Though I can't see the episode in question - are they just goths that like the taste of blood and put in the fangs to complete "the look" (little weird but understandable, I'm lucky in that I have natural fangs) and thus call themselves "vampires" because of that; or do they genuinely believe they're an undead beastie that can turn into a variety of animals (depending on legend) and have above-human abilities? Because if they do that's insane by my standards.
And for the record, no, I don't term myself, or my friend, as "vampires". Goth blood fetishists, we're still just dumb humans. Hell we don't even believe in the supernatural.

I just ignore kids like that at my school. They keep to themselves, but it's funny when they think they know everything about vampire stories and i ask them about Nosferatu, and they're like "huh?" good times, it's fun to mess with kids who have just a little too much teenage angst.
Just boring, mundane people trying to assign themselves an arbitrary identity, and then pretending to believe it when they're called out on it so they don't get called "poseurs".
They're the adult versions of those kids at highschool that wore skate shoes, skate apparel, all kinds of skateboarding merchandise, and then land firmly on their asses every time they try to stand on a stationary skateboard. "It doesn't matter if I don't skate (sustain solely on blood, die in the sunlight, have any powers whatsoever), it's all about the CULTURE, man. That's what I believe in, so you can't call me a fake."

Do I think they're vampires? Nah, probably not. I don't think vampires exist at all.
I do, however, think that some of those people might actually have a condition (different depending on the individual, yet similar.) that is either physical or mental in nature. Whether it's minor or major.
That board provides a place for people with similar ailments can socialize and communicate. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe they're all out of their minds, maybe they aren't. I really don't know.
What I do know is that, despite possible insecurities, they're probably better off than people who have more serious vices. Smokers, alcoholics, drug users...
Of course, some of those people are completely bonkers and need help, but a fair number of them seem to be fairly decent individuals. It doesn't hurt me if someone decides they need to drink blood to survive, or to be well.
I mean, they really aren't much different than us. We here at The Escapist are all gamers. I'm sure a lot of us consider games to be a necessity in our lives, much in the way that the "vampires" believe they must drink blood. They've found a community so they can socialize amongst one-another, just as we have. The difference is that they cling to something mythical, or a mere idea.

No, I knew a guy who claimed he was a vampire when I was 16, that was before even the Twilight book was written. Maybe Twilight has made it more popular, but it definitely didn't start it.animefreak52 said:

Some people just can't cope with the idea of being ordinary. It would be pretty awesome to be a vampire in the supernatural sense but that doesn't mean we should go around pretending to be one.
