WORLD WAR 2!!!!!

but seriously, i would like to see more things set in feudal japan. like serious things, besides dynasty warriors (which may be china, to an outsider the look very similar, i just dont know or care enough to check for that game), or the grand strategy game which is the upcoming total war game.

also, i would like to see more things set around norse and egyptian mythology. age of mythology touched on this, but i haven't heard of any games which go into these in any specific way. and even for greek mythology, the only one ive seen is god of war, and that spartan total warrior thing but that barely counts (it was really similar to god of war). why cant we have a good illiad or odyssey game? or a nice argonauts game. or some good shit involving the misadventures of thor or set? (not as familiar with egyptian and norse mythology as i would like)

I think it would be interesting to play as a rescue worker following the earthquake in Japan or a similar crisis. The "gameplay" mechanic would be something along the lines of having to figure out how to find missing people, and how to save them from their respective situations. There is a deluge of games concerning how to solve a difficult situation with brute force; why not an experience concerning how to overcome adversity with empathy and quick thinking?
They actually already have a few games like this.

I'm not sure how it would work, but I would love to play an FPS using muskets and other early gunpowder weapons. I'm guessing that bayonets and other melee weapons would play a bigger part than they do in most modern games.
couldnt be too realistic because by FPS standards, hell even real life standards those weapons were quite crappy guns (depending on exactally that period/type of weopon) the amount of time it would take to reload between each shot...you'd be Meleeing alot

and the "hardcore" FPS players would hate it, but then again realism for thr sake of realism isnt often a good idea

Stone ages. It would be BADASS.
that could totally work as an RPG
Well, life was pretty much limited to hunting and gathering at that time so it would make a big difference...however I am not sure about gameplay because the only skills are bludgeoning and/or mixing hallucinogenic shrooms

A stealth game set in Victorian Era England. Make it an Assassin's Creed clone if you want, but I look towards the Theif series more.

PS: The word captcha is "Havelev Homotopy." Awesome!

Post Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings. There could be a female protagonist trying to get her kids out. Silent Hill-esque. Maybe she dies at the end? Or she turns into a monster and one of her kids has to kill her? I don't know.

A game surrounding the African tribes before colonalism.

A game where you ligimately try to build up a third world country (I.e: Not through drugs or terrorism, but like through semiconductor production.)

I know this doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I'd also like to see a game where you are the protagonist. All of your strengths and weaknesses out there and in the video game. Never took shooting lessons? You can't wield a gun worth crap. Manic depressed? Bouts where you do a whole bunch of shit and then spend days moping about. Openly gay? There is a chance you could get beaten to death by a hillbilly. Work in construction? You can lift REALLY heavy things. It doesn't even have to have a plot, it could just be an MMO or something.

I think I speak for everyone when I say 'Dinosaurs'

Maybe a caveman/iceage battlefield type thingy. Battlefield BC? That'd be sweet.
Play King Kong The Official Game of The Movie. The human parts are actually pretty good examples of survival horror against incredibly powerful dinosaurs and other monsters. And you also get to play as a giant gorilla wrecking shit. Win-win.

OT: I want to see an RPG based in the Crusades. Assassin`s Creed brought one of my favourite periods of history to video games, and now I want to see it built on. You choose at the beginning whether you want to be a Crusader or a Saracen, and then you make choices down the line that affect the game world real-time...basically watch the movie Kingdom of Heaven, then think about how to work the concept into a video game.
This.

The king kong game was the best dinosaur game ever.

It was like a modern, non buggy version of trespasser.

Definitely Victorian England for me. And yes, definitely a steampunk version of that era. Oh what the heck, I just want an Arcanum sequel! Though an Assassin's Creed set in Victorian London would be amazing as well.

I'd also like some more Cold War stuff seen from the other, Russian, side. The early USA hasn't been covered a lot either, that is outside of the Western genre. Civil War or just the rising big cities. An Assassin's Creed in early New York, ala Gangs Of New York, for example. Man that'd be awesome.

Didn't Saboteur cover the Frenchman-in-WW2 thing?

There's plenty of stuff from that era. Pretty much everything with Romans for starters.

Cavemen RPG.
What's there to RP about? It's not like cavemen led very deep and interesting lives; kill animals, gather crap, move on, hunt animals, gather crap, move on, rinse and repeat.

Not to mention that it was just a really really good movie-tie-in game, which is quite rare.

A well trained soldier can reload a Brown Bess (British Army 1722-1838) in about 15-20 seconds, that's not too bad, is it?

I have argued time and again with my friends, that Victorian London would be the perfect next setting for the Assassins Creed series. Brilliant architecture to climb on like Big Ben, St Pauls etc. A complex political background including the British Empire, invention of the police force, independence of America and it's following civil war, Jack the Ripper, an industrial revoloution. You could have Charles Babbage, the mad inventor of the world's earliest computer, as a Leonardo-type accomplice. I'm sure there's more, but you can probably get a very good game out of that.
I've had similar arguments with my friends. One of them agreed, and another wants to see Assassin's Creed take place in the period Red Dead Redemption did.

Ever played the first Mafia?
It's not much like GTA at all. Linear and mission based. Mafia 2 on the other hand seems to be trying really hard to be a GTA clone.

I would like to see a game where you would play as an immortal human, living through the whole history of mankind and changing history to your own desires.
Someone please steal this idea.
Assuming you have some sort of fast travel system between eras, that game could be awesome.

I think that's one of the most interesting ideas for a game I've heard on here in a while.
If you could travel between eras in time wouldn't you be more of a well... time traveler?
